I hear “honey combed backing” and I think Nor Core.

Is the core material for if a full replacement is done?

I had some pieces of that stuff given to me a while ago. Someone wanted me to see if I could V groove it by putting diamond tooling my Compact V. No go, small diameter tooling really didn’t do very well.
I had a 18 x 30 inch piece of the fiberglass backed granite that you could put across 2 2x4s and stand in the middle. The middle would bend down to the floor but not break. Problem is that the sheets have almost no strength the other way. Two men could carry a fairly big piece flat with the good side up, but if they turned it over it would snap. There were shops fabbing it with Festool saws by mitering pieces and taping them together to sorta V fold a drop edge.
The Aussie estone product was started in California because there were many homes with tile counter tops and a drop over cover was an inexpensive way to re do a kitchen.

Carry them with this and it would not break either way although I get the point.
