Playroom for the kids while the mom is looking for clothes. They can take with them any toys they take a liking to.

November 11, 2012 at 12:22 am #73569Lenny EMemberWow Chris,
It’s just amazing what you have accomplished. May God bless your effort and your good works!
November 12, 2012 at 12:51 am #73572Chris YaughnMemberLenny,
I just try to be a conduit, connecting those with needs to those willing to inconvenience themselves a little to help.
No way I could have done this, God gets the Glory for whatever we have been allowed to be involved in.
My business has been breaking even for the last few years (kinda), has some debt issues, and some other things…..
Fostering Bulloch has assets over $150k, no debt, and $3k or so cash in the bank.
Guess which one i have been in full control of for the last 2 two years
November 14, 2012 at 2:45 pm #73600Miles CroweMemberAwesome Chris! That place looks great. Did you do all of the remodel?
November 14, 2012 at 8:24 pm #73601Chris YaughnMemberMiles, I haven’t sorted any clothes or painted a thing in months.
A local married couple have adopted the place and have been given a vision for what it was supposed to look like. I just walk in the door and continue to be amazed….
November 15, 2012 at 7:09 am #73608Tom MMemberWasn’t that going to be your shop?
December 22, 2012 at 8:57 pm #73972Chris YaughnMemberTom, No. That was a different building.
Check out this story from last week. Loooong read. You have been warned
from an email to friends of our efforts. Loooooooong Read. Have a cup of coffee ready.

Email from 2am Thursday Morning:
Hello all,
We will tell the entire story one day, but for right now we just need help hauling some things.
A few years ago when this all started we began to see recurring needs.
Beds
Dressers
Bikes
ClothesEspecially CPS cases . When children go to live with an Aunt/Grandma, she needs Beds, Clothes, Somewhere to put Clothes and something for the kids to do Outside.
God has met 3 of the 4 needs in a mighty way. The Clothes Closet touches conservatively, a few hundred lives a year. We have a resource for Bikes on an as needed basis. Today, He checked dressers off the list!!
We have been given access to several hundred 8 year old 4 drawer dressers. They will only cost us the time and effort to move them.
BUT, the window to pick them up is very small. If we do not get them in the next few days, they are destined for the landfill .
If you have a trailer or a box truck, and could put together a few men to help load/unload we need your help. TODAY. Thursday. By next Thursday they will be gone.
I will be traveling a large part of the day Thursday and can coordinate by phone. If you have a truck and can pick up a few or a container and can carry a hundred, call me. 690-2498.
So far we have moved roughly 60 dressers, 80 bedside tables, and 100 or so chairs. Many have been routed to Broken Shackle Ranch. Their Director Brought a trailor and some boys over this evening to help move furniture to the Clothes Closet. They were able to go home with a trailer full of chairs and will have matching and sturdy chairs in the cafeteria for the first time since forever.
If you know of these assets and want to help PLEASE contact us FIRST. We are developing relationships with people in charge of disposing of these assets that could benefit our kids for years to come. We need to follow certain protocols to develop those relationships.
Sorry for the scattered thoughts, but this is very much a developing opportunity.
Again 690-2498 please leave a message if you can help.
Hope everyone is well.
Email from Thursday Night:
Wow. Where to start. This might be a little long.
From the beginning:
We noticed a large apartment complex putting furniture in 30 yard roll off dumpsters. Dressers, Night Stands and Chairs. Stopped by and were told that they were being scrapped and we could not have any.
We called someone that is familiar with the effort to see if we could save any from the scrap heap. He said “I know, I know. I am familiar and have already asked and there is no way you guys could get any.” BUT, he said ” If you want, I will call again, I will call 100 times if you want me to.” (We are blessed in this community to have some Strong Godly men in some positions of authority) I asked him to call again, just so that we could say we had tried.
He called me back a few minutes later and told me that he was not sure what was different about what he had asked, but we COULD get some of the furniture. Praise the Lord !!!! This was Sunday.
So, the next day we meet with different folks to see if we can actually get access to the dressers. It looks iffy, at first. Then maybe, kinda. This Was Monday.
Tuesday nothing happens.
Wed we get a voicemail that we don’t get to listen to until 2pm or so. I was in Beaufort SC. The message was ” you guys have the green light to pick up whatever you want, but we would prefer it be today.” We made some calls and a local business owner took a trailer and picked up a load. Also, the Boys Ranch brought over a big box trailer and some boys and helped us move stuff after dark.
Wed night we sent out the email for help moving items. Thursday AM we found out Just how short the window of opportunity was. EVERYTHING was going to be in the landfill or in the last few 30 yards by COB Thursday.
We had several different people/businesses contact us with a regular trailer or a trailer and a few men. We figured we would not get alot, but we would get what we were meant to. And it would be good!!
I was installing all day and thought I Might be back in Statesboro in time to get a small load. I called someone who has a 24ft box truck, just to see if we could borrow it for the afternoon to get whatever was left. Then, God Kinda called down the Thunder on our little efforts.
The business owner said “Chris, I am out in front of you on this one………” This local business owner rolled out a 6 man crew WITH a crew leader (i think there were six men), and the 24ft box truck to move dressers and chairs.
If you have never moved materials, you can’t appreciate the value of having a very very competent “crew leader” on the ground and in charge.
HE ALSO ROLLED OUT AN 18 WHEELER !!!! to pick up dressers.
Our reference to a container in our email for help moving things was almost in Jest. Be careful what you ask God for. and be ready to pass the blessings downstream.
We have no idea exactly how many dressers we have. We HAVE contacted our local DFCS Director to get a list of all Regional large scale residential housing operations there are, that might be able to use these dressers to benefit Our Kids in the System.
Hope this all makes sense, feels like we have been strapped to the front of a freight train.
Hope everyone is well

February 13, 2013 at 9:36 pm #74574Chris YaughnMemberBroken Shackle Ranch made these from donated materials…..
I was there today meeting about some really interesting things. Noticed the desks on the way out.
These may very well be put together with glue donated by The Glue Warehouse. Not sure, I did not think to ask.
Or the seams may have been pulled with donated paraligns or omni-cube seam setters…………………………
All of those points of light converging in Davisboro GA……… Go Figure
