We are getting ready to do a large job cladding a wall with 1/4″ himacs material, and are trying to find out what a good epoxy to use to attach to fire treated plywood. the wall has a radius to it. Something that will also have a reasonably quick dry time(20 – 30 min) any suggestions or reccomendations?

Shouldn’t this be adhered with Silicone so it can move? Or are you talking about the seam?
I bet some of the others that have done a lot of wall cladding can say for sure, but I’d check with the manufacture before using epoxy.

Integra has a quick drying silicone, check them out.

March 26, 2008 at 7:46 am #36991Steve LefebvreMemberYou will need to test whatever you are going to use on a scrap of material first. Sometimes the adhesives react to the fire treatment chemicals/salts. We tried pressing laminate to fire treated particleboard with water based PVA adhesive. The adhesive reacted with the board and was curing as we rolled it on. We ended up applying it to the laminate and had to get it in the press fast.
Good luck.

Is they silicone just not holding at first or after a good 24 hour cure?
March 27, 2008 at 11:14 am #37070AJ MooreMemberWe had the mockup set and clamped over a full weekend and it still pulled free

Test the silicone.
March 31, 2008 at 10:06 am #37204AJ MooreMemberthank you all for the advice / suggestions, we have tested the silicone and under normal usage its fine. we are still not sure what we are going to use at this time. but are moving forward with the project.
