    Ok this may sound like a stupid question. But what is the difference between a rabbet and a dado ?

    A dado is a trench or groove cut out by either a dado head cutter or straight flute router bit usualy the same width as the piece to be inserted into it, a rabbet is similar only one side missing. These can be found in the simplest of wood worker books or mags. Both joints offer support and gluing surface

    In solid surface you will typically be cutting a rabbet for cove, no drip and letting the edge in on large particulate material.

    Rabbets are for eatin but dados are extinct.

    Why does a dado have two ears, but a rabbit only one?
