Anybody know of a different manufacturer and part number for a plug repair set? I had an older set years ago that worked very well and now we own the freud 85-175 and they dont work very well.
Check with Jon at specialtytools.com

The set is $500 and I am not sure what brand he sells.
pinske sells the velepec which is the same thing. I think velepec makes it for freud.

John, thereza set someone is selling in the fabnet for sale section for 25 bucks..looks like they used them quite a bit…but it might work for 25 bucks
I’ve been repairing solid surface countertops pretty much every working day for 20 years and don’t use plug repair kits. I rough cut a slightly oversized plug and sand it to size with a Makita 9031 1-1/8″ by 21″ belt sander, using an 80 grit belt. I connect the sander to a shop vac hose. I sand a very slight bevel on the edge of the plug. As I test fit it, I mark the high spots with a pencil, and gradually ease it to the point where it is almost flush with minimal gaps. The results are always beautiful.
