    Actually Norm Kaolin is china clay. It is not very abundant as far as clays go. It has to be fired at extreme heat (1200 F,if memory serves correctly, my mom did ceramics so I know).

    It is not something you could through into SS for any advantage as a filler but in a refractory type product it could easily be incorporated.

    William, I dont turn gold into lead, I turn worthless fiat money into lead and led delivery devices.

    Norm, you are correct, I turn lead lead into bullets. I have melted down many a ‘wheel weight” and poured them into a bullet mold!

    Lenny I like to use Linotype lead if I can get.  My Dad was a printer and he would bring home ingets from work.  Linotype lead was a little harder than wheel weight lead.  I think I still have about 50 lbs. left.

    I have never melted down Linotype. That’s interesting. Thanks for that info.
