I have a request from a Certified Industrial Hygenist to conduct some air quaility surveys while fabricators are working. They are experts in their field, have top knotch equipment, and the work that would normally coast thousands of dollars will be free.
The results will be kept confidential, perhaps the shops being listed as A, B, or C in the final report. This survey will be used to show the feasability of doing a study, funded by the Federal government, to prove one way or the other if fabricators are at risk from working Certain materials.
This offer is for Northern Califorina, and you will be doing your workers, even yourself, a huge favor. Once a shop owner knows that a potential risk from fabricating a Certain material is common knowledge, the dept of Labor says that the shop must do due dilligence testing. We have that in writing from the federal dept of Labor if you want to see for your self. Failure to do so leaves the owner of the company and supervisors liable.
Hopefully this request to safeguard our entire industry, including the office workers, doesn’t result in my getting banned from Fabnet.
Hopefully this post will remain in the General section.
