Like 6 days ago! I just found out on Ace of Spades. Crikey! I am now officially in mourning. That guy was a darned great guitar player. Fast and accurate. Glad I had the chance to catch him in concert a few times back in the day.

I think he was eccentric like me. He was always dressed the same when he played….. red flannel shirt, sneakers and jeans. My first wife said ‘maybe he is like Jethro Tull’s..Ian Anderson and all his belongings fit into a duffel bag and he only has 1 shirt and 1 pair of jeans”.
I replied…”Maybe he like me, very eccentric and he has a mansion with walk in closets full of red flannel shirts and jeans cataloged by Julian date”.
    Ya never know.

    Tom,

I recall some alvin lee sayings/lyrics.

Every where is fags and faries, freaks and haries.
    Tell me where is sanity?

Tax the rich to feed the poor,
until there are no rich no more.

I’d love to change the world, but I don’t what to do,

So I’ll leave it up to you!

    and another song…

He did about Texas. (rock and roll music to the world)

We did some rock and roll down in Texas,

You better watch yourself down in Texas or you might just end up Dead.

    The people we found,

    Groovin to the sound

Of rock in roll music we had,
    We all had a ball,

    WERE NO HASSLES AT ALL,

Pretty soon I’m gonna go back there!
Singing Rock and roll music to the world.

Aint no relation to the United Nation,

Just Rock and Roll music to the World!

I think Alvin was a redneck gunslinging Texan at heart.

God bless him, he will be missed.

The leads on the live version of (IIRC) Woodchopper’s ball were some of the fastest, hardest you can get in R&R.

Ah, the Woodchoppers ball. Yep, seen it (on video, I wasn’t there). It was great. They just don’t play power rhythm and blues like that anymore.

It’s the death of an era. What do they push now? A buncha non talented droopy drawers gangsters that wouldn’t know a minor chord from a major one and couldn’t play a decent guitar if you beat them over the head with it.

I guess I’ve lived too long and am a relic.

I hear ya on the relic thing, but there are some alternative artists who at least bring new ideas to the table.
