    Lenny:

I’m hearing some internet debate as to to the composition of acrylic nails. I know you must have some technical knowledge or access to same to settle the debate. Please illucidate.

    Thanks,

    Joe

    Formulation wise,
they used to be made from a typical thermoset acrylic resin and them layered over a form around the nail where they harden and are sculpted.

Most of my experience wth fake nail process comes from working in the Orient (Nam, Korrea, China, Philllpines etc.) so it may be older technology, different from what is used currently stateside. The same places where laides gave the men  massages also sometimes did fake nails, skin whiteneing, etc.  for the femaile clientele, so I got a chance to see it from time to time while waiting for my favorite massage girl.

Each formula is different and can be modified with various additives to give the nails a more “natural” appearance and different propeties ( more flexibility, or on the other end of the spectrum….the hard and sharp, scratch your eyes out variety)!
