I know Microsoft announced an interactive touchscreen type and here is another… cool stuff for the future!
September 16, 2007 at 12:21 pm #26837Gene McDonaldMemberKevin, that is crazy isn’t it? Countertops are becoming like software, just when you figure it out it has been upgraded and you hafta relearn!, Check out the link below where you can leave your Credit card on the top, thats nuts! I like it though, a friend sent me this clip couple a weeks ago to show me how the computer world is gonna steal all the business from the countertop industry, can you imagine when we can sell countertops that will let you know when you it tells you you’re running low on soup?…I was at a design show class three years ago when the RFt furniture was being introduced, radio frequency transmission furniture will let you know anything you program it to do.
September 16, 2007 at 12:27 pm #26838Gene McDonaldMemberWoops ! Sorry bout that the link was wrong…here we go

September 16, 2007 at 1:41 pm #26840Andy GravesKeymasterBoth of those ideas are real impressive. The cost would scare me a bit, but I am sure commercial applications could afford the cutting edge technology.
September 16, 2007 at 3:58 pm #26842Ethan AmesMemberI’ll bet Vegas gets them first!
The ms thing is kinda scary but on with the future…

September 17, 2007 at 4:36 pm #26905Tom MMemberGordon,
Bet you never knew you’d have to have an electrical engineering degree to be a countertop repair technician.
September 18, 2007 at 10:52 am #26963Gordon DoullMemberAmen, brother!!
And that’s Imperfection Eradication Engineer if you please.

Same here, but at my college we called it a Theater degree.
My first four years of college were the best five and a half I could have spent there.

September 18, 2007 at 3:14 pm #26993Gene McDonaldMemberCan you imagine going out to resand one of those tops, the fun i could have with a remote control and one of those tops. I’d hire one of youse guys to come out and sand it then polish it, then i’ll hit the remote and virtual scratches will pop up on the screen, That would be fun watching you freak out, I wonder if you can cut them tops with a Festool Saw? The same top can be programmed to show anything.I want to some how figure out how to hack a countertop?, i really would like to get some credit card numbers from some of those over paid movie stars and football players? Can you imagine hearing a report from Spear Britney, saying what the hell is Lumistone and why did i order 50 sheets of it??? oh well , it was probaly fun
