In the past there have been discussions about mixing you own or using a pre mix for seams in quartz and granite. (Here, or maybe geeks, can’t remember) I was curious what you guys that have added installs recently are doing.
I am inclined to use Integra for the Quartz, not sure about the granite though given the variations in color.
Any thoughts?

April 25, 2007 at 10:34 pm #18987Karl CrooksMemberChris, we have been useing DuPonts Corian glue for Zodiaq (They have a recomended chart) and Integra for other Quartz and Granite products.

Check the Adhesive Charts. Integra has a list of manfacturers that they make adhesive for. Look right below the Solid surface adhesive.

SanityChaser,
We use Integra for both Ouartz and Granite. We cut with a CNC so the seams are tight and chip free .So we get by with just clear, You can tint it

Integra has colors available for the main Quartz products I will be installing. As long as the colors are as good the SS I plan to use them.
I was curios about the Granite though, with the color of a particular “Type” varying so much. The stone is coming off a cnc so maybe the clear will do the trick.
MUrban,
do you tint Clear Integra or do you guys mix up super flow somthing or other and tint that. (I need to make a call to find out what the name of the stuff the guy I installed a few tops with uses)
Thanks
Chris

if its a good seam clear will work just fine for ya, I would get a set of Gorilla Grips too .
May 3, 2007 at 7:46 pm #19376Edwin RivasMembergorilla grips are the best, that and a vacuum brazed cup wheel.
ggrips all the way……..
May 11, 2007 at 3:52 pm #19779Chad PitcherMemberINTEGRA ALSO SELLS THERE GLUE IN QUARTS AND IF YOU USE COLORINT YOU CAN MIX ANY COLOR YOU CHOSE AND WE ONLY USE INTEGRA FOR E-STONE AND SUPIRIOR ON NATURAL STONE AND YES THE GGRIPS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO SET A SEAM
VERY PICKY NO MY SEAM CHAD P.
May 11, 2007 at 6:06 pm #19795John CristinaMemberWe used Integra adhesives flex stone bonder for the quartz and most times clear flowing Akemi brand for granite, when you get stone that is cut well very rarely will you have to tint the clear.

May 11, 2007 at 9:33 pm #19808Norm WaltersMemberDON’T use clear on solid surface unless it calls for it, such as a polyester. I learned my lesson the hard way.
May 12, 2007 at 9:43 pm #19900Chris YaughnMemberDave,
Those are the items the installer I trained with used. I used integra on the first job and it went well. I set the seams by hand and got what is a very acceptabke seam for this part of the world. Gotta get those g-grips so we can set ourselves apart.
Not all of the fabricators I am currently working w/ are cnc so I like having the color as a slight margin for error.
So far so good. Was asked to bid a house by the builder we did the first job for, . I was expecting a kitchen top or something “normal”. Turns out it will end up being one of the largest houses in the county and they just started setting cabinets. Could end up being or largest job to date, commercial or residetnial (if we get it). Needless to say the g-grips are built in to the bid
Thanks All
Chris

Good luck.
May 13, 2007 at 1:01 am #19907Andy GravesKeymasterThat is great news that you got such a large job. Keep plugging along and you will be right were you want in a couple years.
May 13, 2007 at 6:50 am #19913John CristinaMemberChris,
Dont forget to have the job sponsored by Aleve. After that much heavy stuff you’ll need it.
And dont forget the pics, we are into that around here.
