To a certain extent I agree with you Fabman, BUT ” he who pays the warranty picks the rules.”
October 31, 2013 at 3:17 pm #76587Steve , NYMemberZach, we tried this with one of Wilsonarts sinks and the ring that comes with it, worked out very well. The customer didn’t want to see the ring so we applied a laminate face to the ring as well . Next time I wouldn’t purchase the more expensive sink that comes with the ring, I would just cut a ring out of solid surface and use any undermount bowl.
We are also waiting on Karran bowl that were promised to be here already, makes you want to steer clear.

October 10, 2013 at 8:27 am #76433Steve , NYMemberGene, doing the jobs you do without a cnc testifies to your skill and confidence to try something new. I can only imagine what you would try if you had a cnc. Great looking job as always !
October 8, 2013 at 6:48 pm #76405Steve , NYMemberThe one we’re waiting on this time is Praa Sands, estimated arrival is the beginning of December. About a year ago it was the color Parys that had about a two month lead time.
October 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm #76377Steve , NYMemberRight now I’m waiting on a color that I’m told will take 8 weeks to come in. I hope they don’t extend it like they did for Andy.
October 2, 2013 at 8:31 am #76328Steve , NYMemberThat is the first time I’ve seen glass in the false front by the sink bowl. I have inlayed solid surface as a panel in the false front before.
Nice looking work Andy.
September 17, 2013 at 2:45 pm #76250Steve , NYMemberI think they only discontinued it in the US market, I think you can still get it in Europe. could be wrong.
According to my converter, the 6mm he talks about is about .236″ thick, was SSV that thick ? I might soon find out, I got a call yesterday to look at a repair job that is ssv, not sure I want to get into that nightmare.
September 16, 2013 at 1:36 pm #76242Steve , NYMemberLooks good Andy, this week I have to make a solid surface panel to put on the bathroom wall behind some urinals in a church, for the same reason that your base board didn’t last long. A little worried the plumbers might run the screws through the solid surface and cause it to crack.
How did you fasten the base board other than the silicone around the top ?
September 9, 2013 at 1:55 pm #76207Steve , NYMemberWe’ve been very busy here, this has been our best year yet.
August 22, 2013 at 5:12 pm #76118Steve , NYMemberDani , I’m with the local fire dept (volunteer) and for a truck to have that small amount of damage is rare, must have been a slow speed crash but it still looks like a lot of work to fix it. I hope everything turns out well for you. Do you do the painting yourself ? Heard that can be tricky especially if it has metallic in the paint.
August 21, 2013 at 1:17 pm #76104Steve , NYMemberIf they don’t replace the sink they will lose WAY more business than if they replaced it and just ate the cost, regardless of if it is their sink or not. They sell them don’t they ?
August 16, 2013 at 1:38 pm #76060Steve , NYMemberIf you are cutting parts on a jig, rather than change the post every time, it may be quicker to just edit the x and y values in the second to last line of the G-code before sending it to the cnc.
August 15, 2013 at 2:47 pm #76045Steve , NYMemberI ran a couple programs this morning with my revised post, works perfect, cnc goes all the way back as soon as it’s done with the program.
August 14, 2013 at 9:29 pm #76042Steve , NYMemberHi Andy, I think I got it.
Find the file “Licomdat” on your computer, select the “RPOSTS.ALP” folder, this is where your post processor is stored, double click on the one you are using, scroll down to where it says “Main Program TRAILING lines“. About the second or third line from the bottom it currently says: G00 X0. Y0. change the x and y values to where you want the cnc to go. (e.g. X60. Y144.) now save the changes.
Now open your Alphacam software, click on the’ File’ tab, scroll down and click on the ‘Select Post’ tab, this will take you to the “RPOSTS.ALP” folder, select the post that you have just revised (check revised date). Done.
Now go to Alphacam and print out a G-code and compare it to the G-code you sent me yesterday, the second to last line should now display your updated values instead of G00 X0. Y0.
Make sure you enter a period behind your x and y values.
Now I need some information from you. Where is your ( G00 X0 Y0) line entered at under ” Main Program TRAILING lines” ? Is it before the ‘ $MODAL ON’ line ? Or between the ‘$ENDIF ‘ and the ‘ ‘ sign ? Or after the ‘ ‘ sign ?
Hopefully this makes sense to you, if not let me know. Thanks for your help !!
