January 6, 2014 at 7:18 am #76899Tom MMemberJon is my rep for Corian, and he gets me whatever I need of him pretty darn fast. That’s a plus to be sure.
January 4, 2014 at 9:18 am #76896Tom MMemberI can’t speak for DuPont now, but back in the day, they only wanted the financials showing you were a registered business with the state, had a base of operations that was not a garage or etc., and had sound enough resources for paying your bills. I really can’t blame them if that is all.
I don’t agree with it, but I understand it. I am a free market guy. If you can work the product and can pay your bills, I don’t see the hassle, EXCEPT for the warranty. That thing is like the gummint’s control over health care. It gives them all kinds of reasons to allow this or not allow that.
Agreeing to purchase only their product would be a deal breaker for me, unless I got pricing that beat all the competition, they guaranteed that for the duration, and they helped out financially as if I were a franchise. That’s just about what they want me to be anyway under those conditions. Since their advertising is nothing like it used to be, I would pass on that.
If you go with other brands, you will likely be able to negotiate with DuPont in the future anyway. Good luck.
January 2, 2014 at 7:14 am #76890Tom MMemberHappy New Year to all the ‘netters out there. Get better soon, David.
December 30, 2013 at 7:29 am #76884Tom MMemberWe just put in our first Super White quartzite top. I had no idea they were as fragile as they are. The mesh on the back was our first tip.
I would never have a square inside corner on that, unless that’s where they put the seam. If as, that was a lame mistake with the saw.
December 30, 2013 at 7:18 am #76883Tom MMemberIt was good experience for Mady, to be sure, and that alone is a good enough reason for you to participate.
She also got to see how they make those ads with the camera on a different craft, but in the final cut it looks like the one boat.
She got to see when a far shot is better than a close up, etc.Good stuff!
December 28, 2013 at 11:57 am #76879Tom MMemberI’ll give him this: He looks like he is listening to the people he is talking to. A lot of these types of ads you can tell the pol really doesn’t care.
The camera likes Mady.
If I can echo Wags a bit, I think how a politician personally feels about this or that is secondary to how they vote. The ones who vote for more government involvement are not doing us any favors. It always costs us more and always gives us less ability to live how we want to. When was the last time you saw fewer regulations and laws?
Also – just as an example:” pro women”? Why? Why not be pro everyone with no one getting special privileges? What’s wrong with that?
December 27, 2013 at 7:15 am #76871Tom MMemberYou have wise friends, my friend.
See what I did there?
December 26, 2013 at 7:13 am #76866Tom MMemberBut good advice nonetheless.
December 26, 2013 at 7:08 am #76865Tom MMemberI hope you had as good a holiday as you could, Sensei. You need to make up for all that is lost when you get home.
I had you in my thoughts, as I will on New Years.December 24, 2013 at 7:21 am #76855Tom MMemberHe really did a great job at resurrecting martial arts movies. Good sense of humor as well.
December 24, 2013 at 7:11 am #76853Tom MMemberLenny,
Did you see the South Park Prius episode? The owners would all stand around a room and smell their own flatulence. Good bit of social comment, right there.December 21, 2013 at 10:29 am #76840Tom MMemberDon’t be fooled by that crazy Lenny E. Everything he said is spot on. He is a guru of sorts. Like the Drunken Master, so to speak.
There is a manufacturer who used to allow a sort of full substrate as long as you drilled a few hundred holes in it. There are plenty of ways to get near full substrate support and still have heat dissipation. One way would be to cut patterns in the substrate that creates a true “web” look. That spreads the support around pretty well, but allows for surface area to be exposed, venting heat.
I think you need to look at why you need a full support in the first place. Is this an island or peninsula? Is it an open under top, like a worktop over file cabinets? There are few reasons that justify a full substrate in the first place. Why do you feel you need one?
December 21, 2013 at 9:32 am #76839Tom MMemberI kept wondering when the Nissan part came in. Very funny.
