Switch to insert tooling it is the only to go If cutter isn’t flush you can shim the back edge of the cutter with a small strip of paper.
I use the Amana RC-1004 it has 1 1/8″ cutter

Only about half of the truck has been painted. The box, because there were a lot of dints and deep scratches, the tail gate, left front finder and door. the radiator support and upper bumper cover. The hood has a few dints in it from hail damage, and that is going to be fix when the paint less dint removal guy comes the next time to my son’s shop. My son is excellent at color match and you can’t tell where the new paint stops and the old paint starts.
September 27, 2013 at 4:49 pm #76297Dani HomrichMemberMy truck is done! The total cost $13,988, but I get a family discount if I build some shelves for my son. That takes $1,000.00 off so my cost is $12,988.00 for a new 2007 F150 4X4 with only 38,238 miles. I did not add the price for 3 new tires, a Bak Rol-X tonneau cover and the frame mount for my snow plow. What a great deal and the only way to buy a truck or car. If anyone is looking let me know you can save thousands of $ even with shipping cost.
September 13, 2013 at 9:07 am #76221Dani HomrichMemberThanks Lenny. The big delay has been 2 parts, the bracket to hold the shift cable to the trans and the bracket to hold the trans cooler. I hope they come in today. It runs great, the engine is very quite and smooth with out any vibration or missing.

August 29, 2013 at 6:33 pm #76168Dani HomrichMemberAndy,
I won’t know until my son gives me his final bill, although I know that Peter my son’s frame man has about 6 hrs @ $75.00 an hour on the frame rack. Most of the time in the shop is waiting for parts and other cars to be finished so the truck can go to the next step.

It was a high speed crash 50+ into the end of a guardrail, fast enough to bent the frame and rip the trans out of the engine. My son won’t let me touch the paint, he said leave it to the professional.
This is pulling the fender support on the frame rack so the new radiator support will fit.
The floor is almost back in place. The door alinement is perfect now,but the plastic needs to be replaced on the dash where the drivers knee smashed it.
This is the new radiator support ready for welding.
In about a week I will have this truck on the road. I install the plow hitch on the frame this past weekend so I will be ready for the snow to fly.

Also if a box has been opened the driver can’t take it back anyway.
August 23, 2013 at 9:54 am #76133Dani HomrichMemberI am only going to say this. I’m only stating the facts when it comes to road freight. The driver can not leave until you sign the bill of lading no matter how long it takes and if the driver has a problem with waiting then all you do is call the main office and they will set him straight. If there is hidden damage in the shipment and it is not noted on the freight bill it is a done deal and you have no right for a claim.
August 22, 2013 at 2:49 pm #76115Dani HomrichMemberThe new frame is back together
This is the damage to the cab
This is is the new radiator and fender support
The cab mount and floor is damage so the cab needs to go on the frame rack.
My truck’s cab is next in line to go on the frame rack as soon as this car is done give or take a day or two.
August 22, 2013 at 2:15 pm #76114Dani HomrichMemberI have been involved with receiving freight all my life, my Dad owned a trucking Co with a ware house and received freight many times a day. The rule when receiving freight is: if you sign the bill of lading and the driver leaves you have agreed to the fact that you received the freight in good condition even if there is hidden damage. No claim will be allowed. When we received anything breakable like chairs, lamps, china, etc. every box was opened to check for hidden damage. If there was hidden damage then it was noted on the bill of lading and a claim could be flied. The driver will say if you open the box I can’t take the back, that’s OK because if there is damage it will be on the bill of lading and you can file a claim.
The fault is not with Domain or the shipping Co. The fault is with the receiving dept. for not checking the boxes before signing the bill of lading and definitely with a box showing damage.
August 17, 2013 at 2:38 pm #76072Dani HomrichMemberAndy,
No I’m still driving my 99 with 230,000 miles on it, but I do drop off boxes at the UPS box with the A.
Lenny
There is no fixing this frameThis is the cab removed from the old frame
This is the damage side of the old frame
Had a little set back I need another trans and torque converter
I got another trans today from a salvage yard in Clair, Mi for $600.00
This is the new frame
The cab needs to go on the frame rack to fix the cab mounts and the floor board on the drivers side. The trans was really the only surprise so far. This truck is still a really great deal. I got the truck w/shipping from Ft Wayne, IN for $5206.00, and I have spent $1900.00 on parts and by the time I add another 3500.00 for paint and labor and another 800.00 for extras, I’m still under $12,000.00 for a truck that is worth $21,000.00.
