KeymasterDoes anyone know where Mike Duggan is? If you have his email of phone would you please invite him to the Fabricator Network. Mike has a lot of great ideas and it would be an honor to have him come post on the FabNet.
Thanks in Advance.

I emailed Mike at the last address I had for him. I begged and schmoozed as best I could. Hopefully, we’ll hear from him.

I got an email back from Mike! He was glad to hear from me, said I caught him at the start of exams and that life is good. Law school is “way harder than I ever expected” he says, and starting over at “my ripe old age is no picnic”.
Hopefully, we’ll see a piece he wrote for the back page of Surface Fabrication magazine soon.
Like Mike, “I have nothing but good memories of our friendship.”
He closed with his usual self-deprecation, but I’m having none of it.
I feel like the guy who broke up with his girl who meets her a year later and she’s lost fifty pounds and won ten million in the lottery. Mike is very sorely missed.
Let’s hope he stays in touch,
Joe

He conspicuously didn’t say, but I gave him the address. He’s got to take a peek, but I doubt he’ll grace us with any insight as to the present controversies. I have never hoped I was more wrong.

MemberThat’s the problem with this whole scene, to many controversies. When is enough …enough?

I guess you had to have been there. I’m fighting for a return of integrity and leadership to an organization I dearly love. ISSFA is like having an alcoholic brother. You’re filled with great memories, you’re appalled at what’s going on now and what he’s become but you can’t quit loving him and hope and work for him to resume his old ways.
I wish I didn’t care so much. I’d love to be able to just forget it and walk away, but I gotta be able to look in the mirror every morning. I can’t apologize if my obligation wears thin on you.
Sincerely,
Joe

MemberHere’s some reality for you Joe, 99% of my customer base as it relates to Solid Surface fabricators, ARE NOT members of ISSFA, and the majority of those 99% don’t even know what ISSFA is. And, we’re talkin Florida fabricators in a state that builds it everywhere. I’ll take a 40 man SS shop with no affililiation to ISSFA over a 2 man shop that eats & sleeps ISSFA, all day long! It’s about…SALES!

KeymasterVery interesting Dave. How do we contact all the solid surface fabricators out there. If they aren’t ISSFA members, I guess it doesn’t even matter anymore. What is the point of talking about something that has such little impact on the industry. I suggest we just start kicking ass here and get people on the Network.

MemberAgreed Andy and I DO NOT exagerate as to the 99% ! You know what that tells me? I have some real profitable, big spending SS shops that have garnered nothing from ISSFA, have not been solicited by ISSFA, and pump out some serious solid surface products without any regard for the need to belong to an association.
Had a shop in North Carolina order a $1,000.00 + of product this past Friday. Asked him, as I always do…How did you here about us? He said the Fabricator Network. I asked him if he was a member of ISSFA. He said, and I quote: “What is ISSFA?”
Nuff said!

Dave,
This last post convinced me. I say no more about it. I am going to concentrate on making the FabNet everything it should be.
