I was showing a customer an Avonite Goldmine sample today, thought for sure I had her sold. I went to measure a vanity in one of her bathrooms, and when I come back she has a steak knife in her hand gouging the Goldmine sample. She wasn’t impressed that you could “sand and buff” out the scratch. At that point I pulled out my quartz sample box and told her to try and scratch it. After four attempts with a steak knife she agreed that it doesn’t scratch.

P.S. don’t leave the customer alone with your samples, LOL

Or turn your back on them…especially if they are handeling knives.

What did she want to do Norm, Have a 10′ cutting board???

Dave, it was just one of those customers, It was a referral for a kitchen cabinet reface and solid surface countertops, I spent three hours there, could have spent four if I basically hadn’t said, “I have to go now”.

For the past eight years, up until this year, I had a partner that is a Real Estate Broker, he would buy forclosure houses, I would completely remodel them, he would sell them, and we would split the profits. I never even met, or knew the name of the buyers of the houses, nor did I care, life was grand back then.

Customers are at least half of the work involved in remodeling, but you don’t get paid for it.
