Today the skies in Michigan cleared and there was this huge orange/yelow ball in the sky. When I went outside, it made my skin feel nice and warm. It was so bright I couldn’t look at it.
Did anyone else see this thing? Does anyone have any idea what this was? I seem to have some faded memories…
At about 8:15p.m., the ball slipped beneath the horizon and it got dark really fast. Are these events related? Will it come back tomorrow, or am I hopelessly optimistic?

In Nova Scotia we ocassionally see a similar phenomenon. Still haven’t figured it out. The timing seems to be slightly different than your event but may be related. We sometimes see this happen several days in a row around the two weeks we have for summer.

MemberJoe, it was just our new ad campaign. We rented a blimp with a infrared device to warm the hearts of our Northeast & Midwest customers. No big deal.

I was so impressed today, I did a little research on the net and found out that Nicholas Copernicus, the guy who got in such big trouble with the Pope several hunderd years ago for saying the earth revolved around the sun, was wrong:

MemberMust be some strange weather stuff going on. Yesterday the sky was full of cotton, must of been very light and fluffy as it never did fall to the ground. We prayed and chanted and today the sun (as in Valley of the sun) returned. Ive not seen anything like that before, though, I seem to remember in Chicago, the cotton would often be in the sky. Intersting cause I never saw cotton fields there as I do here…..Must be the Democrates doing something.. or Al Gore? I know I stayed in all day yesterday, so I wouldn’t get buried in the cotton when it did fall to the ground.

MemberRecently, I have asked myself ,”Self,” I said, “how low will these two go?”
Thank you for revealing new floors in these forums. I look forward to the degeneration of this to our new lowest common denominator.
I am still your biggest fan.

MemberYes, Tom. I can see that as the basement passes by.
And blaming Dave is like shootin’ fish in a barrel, my friend. It is essentially cruelty to animals. 😉
