This is not for fabricators, it’s for the likes of Steve from Monument, avoniteguy, glueman, Gordon of EOS, Dani, Robert of Jost, the Formica guy, Wesley Tool, Affinity, etc…

So, what do you folks give back to further the Solid Surface Industry? You see, it was implied, NO, it was STATED on another site that I give nothing back to the SS industry. 1st of all, define “giving back”. Very subjective is it not?

Most of us that further any cause, don’t advertise our good deeds. It’s called not needing recognition. Some need it, they consider it a specialty in their world.

    So, what do you do???

Dave, forgive me for butting in on this since it was not addressed to fabricators, but whoever stated that you have given nothing back is full of it.

    Ignore them.

    Dave:

Allow me to answer for some of your listees. Dani Homrich has offered his extensive knowledge of the solid surface industry through magazine interviews and articles, technical demonstrations at shows, phone calls and emails.

Steve Lefevere of Monument Tools has presented well-received seminars at the shows and is always available to answer questions, at least every time I call him. His wife is no slouch to the industry either.

The pay for their work at the shows is the recognition and the gratitude of the fabricators they’ve helped.

Gordon Shell from EOS is the biggest bull$%^&&er in the world. No, not really, I made that up. Gordon has extensive knowledge and experience in the industry going back a ways and especially from the manufacturer’s viewpoint. He has never hesitated to share same with anyone that I know of. I pull his chain every chance I get (and he pulls back), but the industry is lucky to have guys like Gordon in it.

As for you giving back Dave, I think the fabricators have voted with their dollars. You may go bankrupt or retire next year, that will say it all. You tend to speak on technical and other issues before you have all the facts, but amazingly fabricators overlook it repeatedly. You’ve got some rabid fans. If it weren’t for you, I would never have known Sanjia was booted off American Idol. Thanks. (That’s chain-pullin’ there, Dave)

Dave, from the tone of your post, it sounds like you think the accusation of not giving back to the industry really gets to you. If it does, never, never, let them know. Better yet, ask them to substantiate what they say. Believe me, that’ll shut down a blowhard in a hurry.

I hope I’ve answered some of your questions,

    Joe

Dave I checked out the other BB for you and didn’t see anything. Joe I will not shut any blowhards down. I might reason with such a person but As long as I still have moderator status you can say what you want if its above board.

    Wrong site Jon. Thanks anyway.

Joe, we’re on the same page as to the folks you mentioned. However, one persons facts vs anothers can be relugated to opinion status. Know what I mean.

I will submit that a lot of charitable donations in this country are from folks who are anonymous. You read about people like that from time to time. They don’t need their names in lights. Not in it for recognition and the proverbial pat on the back.

Sometimes, “giving back” does not need to be worn on ones sleave.
