MemberMan I am full of questions today and they mey seem a little stupid, but if do not ask never can learn.
I am curious as to what most are doing for thickness of vanities ie 1″ or 11/2″ for the standard?

MemberWe show edge samples to the customer and let them decide. Deeper edges cost more.

MemberReuben, Meganite has a product called Maxstone that is a poly blend and is 2cm sized for vanities, the sheets are 26 1/2″ x 123″ and are priced right. The downside is that they only come in five colors.

MemberReuben,
We will mostly do 1 ½ edges on vanities but every now and again we might do a 1” edge by request or if a customer wants to save a little money or if it is a really small vanity. I only mention that because I sold one last Friday that was 20” x 39” and I suggested a 1” edge because the vanity was so small and the customer agreed.

MemberEOS also has a 2cm offering in all of our colors. The thickness varies per region, here in Michigan, we see cultured marble vanities in 1″and 3/4″, 1/2″ solid surface guys usually do 1″, granite and E-stone do 2cm, and I’m building a network of fabs that are running EOS 2cm vanities.
In Texas, I have seen guys doing 1/2″ SS tops, they look very cheap.

MemberHudson Solid Surfaces has a poly product that goes by the name of Mystera. They have a vanity program that comes in 2cm sheets that measure 27 X 144. It comes in 41 colors, including 4 wood looking colors. We are building tops out of the 2cm and are getting very good response from the consumers.
In our area, (Northern Indiana) people are use to 3/4″ cultered marble tops so the 2cm is not a problem to sell.

MemberHey Reuben, When we do small tops the thickness is usually 1 1/2 ” however we route an ogee or full roundover to tone down the thickness or as Andy said “more proportional” to the size of the top. Dave
