KeymasterYou seen the new colors of Staron? They are pretty nice and look like a quartz product. The picture isn’t the greatest, but you get the idea (maybe).

MemberI had heard they were coming out with this, and actually had asked my distributor about any new colors Wednesday. They said none they knew of. But then I never am just given things without asking. I always have to ask. I’m still waiting (going on 2 years now) on a few Staron shirts (to buy)…. I wish as a fabricator for Staron, or for anyone else for that matter, they would communicate “news or happenings within their company” directly with me. I guess as a small shop, distributors only take care of their “full skid” customers. I never knew Staron had come out with new Talus and Quarry colors last year until a customer asked for one of them.
Almost every fabricator I have talked to has expressed some discontent with communication from their distributor and the products they supply.
Humm… Andy… How about a section where the manufacturer can share information with what is going on within their company. They can send a monthly email/fax to the Fabnet with their news. Or better yet, someone could contact them monthly about any news they might have. If they have none, we say they have none. I’m sure they send out mailings to their distributors we never see. Not only would it be a great PR statement each month, it would be a great service of the FabNet to all readers.
thinking out loud again….. KC

MemberKC,
Good idea about the manufacture announcement area.Andy,
First time I saw these were last week, I think. Kind of reminded me of the Volcano Hi Macs.Tom

MemberHave Hi-macs Volcano series in our master bath and on the window sills. Looks fabulous!
Speaking of sills, any of you doing them? We have several customers in Florida that do nothing but window sills.

MemberThe tempest series particulates are even larger than the vocanics series. And it has more depth due to the actual clear chips instead of just a cloudy white chip. Pretty nice, I tried to steal the master set from my rep but he got them back, he is bringing my sets monday or tuesday
December 6, 2006 at 9:07 pm #10918Andy Graves
KeymasterThe clarity of the chip is amazing for being an acrylic product. Plus no bruising around the edges of the chip.
December 6, 2006 at 9:13 pm #10920KCWOOD
Memberyou think it is 100% acrylic? They said Volcanics was too.
December 6, 2006 at 9:18 pm #10923Andy Graves
KeymasterNot sure. I don’t really if it cuts well on the CNC. If it doesn’t, then I will start asking questions.
December 6, 2006 at 9:21 pm #10924KCWOOD
MemberLG said Volcanics was 100%. Lenny told us how to check that, remember? My conclusion the chunks was different material.

MemberKC, Andy,
I never heard of that. Could you guys clarify re: the Volcano series and acrylic?Tom
p.s. Staron: Naming a series the same as another brands is not going to help us with customers. Just sayin’…
December 7, 2006 at 11:26 am #10964Andy Graves
KeymasterWho else has Tempest? I do not do sales much so excuse my stupidity.
December 7, 2006 at 11:34 am #10967Tom M
MemberGibraltar has a series with Tempest as trhe moniker. Beige tempest, Light Gray Tempest, etc. Looks just like the Mirage colors they have, but is named different for some reason.Tom

MemberAndy,
My Staron rep just told me they had already discontinued a black, in the Tempest series. Did your set come with one? he also said they would not have material until the end of this month. I should get my samples tomorrow.

MemberAndy,
The only thing that you would have to worry about it not being 100% acrylic is for thermoforming and that is not happening with those large particulates anyway. They do however claim it is all acylic resins used. Does not matter to me I cant wait to do the first one and see it done.
