KeymasterThe new warranty chart is finished. Print one for your shop. I am 99% sure we are going to print some posters so they will be easier to read. Also I plan to make a pdf that will print on both sides of a page

MemberLots of people to thank. You know who you are.
Also like to thank all the manufacturers for their participation. They helped out a lot through all the emails and rechecking that we went through.

MemberLot of information on the warranty chart, thanks to all that helped with it. I don’t know if anyone else tried printing it yet, but I think it should be on two pages, the print is too small to read on one. I hate being a complainer especially since everyone spent so much time on this, I’m just saying……

Yea, I was up all night. First I couldn’t get my printer to work. Fixed it after an hour or so looking on the internet.
Then the logos wouldn’t resize properly. And last, I had to upload all the new data I received on Tuesday from the last manufacturers.
All is good though. I think the time stamp on the post is wrong. It should have read 4: something.

MemberYou guys really need to consider buying a printer that will handle 11×17 paper.
especially you 20-20 guys.

MemberTom, my printer will print on different size paper, can you send me a ream or two

As far as 20-20 goes I usually just convert those to jpeg’s and email them to customers. All I print out for myself is the floor plan and the cab list, and I don’t wear glasses, yet…..

MemberI am trying to layout a 45 degree bat wing island using Hi Macs. The center section is 32″. The left section is 24″ and the right section is 18″. All these measurements are on the short side of the island. Each section is 39″ deep creating a 14″ overhang on the entire long side. The center section has a 30″ x 23 1/4″ cook top cutout.
I looked all through the fab manual for Hi Macs and it says to keep all seams at least 3-4″ away from cutout. The warranty chart indicates that seams through the cutout are permissable. Also the manual says that the reinforcement blocks need to be 6″ x 6″. The chart says 4″ x 4″.
I know that the chart took a lot of effort to put together but I can’t reconcile it with the manual.
The reason for my initial curiosity is that I can’t figure a way not to have a seam through the overhang or be 3″ away from the cook top cutout.
I am going to try to contact LG tomorrow and get their advice and still stay within warranty guidlines.
Anybody have any thoughts? Personally I wouldn’t have any problem with a properly reinforced seam through a cook top cutout. I just don’t want to buy the warranty.

KeymasterI do the seam through the cooktop if there is no other way but I see your point. Let me know what you find out about the warranty and I could change the chart if need be.

MemberI spoke with a friendly man named Andrew Lee. He is an engineer at the lg plant in Georgia. He said that he would have an answer for me by the end of the day.
Below is an actual layout of the island

MemberAloha, Johnny
Is that opening for a cook top or a free standing flat deck stove ? If it is free standing I would put a seam in the middle of the stove. And if it’s a cook top cut out I would still put it in the middle . But I would use aluminum box tubeing to support the weight of the stove unit so that there would be no weight on the counter surface for expansion and contraction

MemberThanks, Darren.
It will be a slide in range that will rest on the floor and have a flange that overlaps the deck. Have you made the seam through the cut out before and had it approved by LG? Just wondering how they would look at the warranty issue should a failure ocurr.

MemberI had correspondence with Mark Lutz at LG Surfaces.LG’s position on seam placement was to put the seam in the overhang area as far from the fulcrom (sp) point as possible. Any seam placement in the cook top cut out would not be covered under their warranty should there be a failure.
