MemberI just did my first cutout for the Lovello stainless steel sink from LG and I did not like the template they provided which is the same as the dxf file. They give two lines, one is designed to overhang the bowls and the other is recessed. I ended up somewhere in between to have it come out the way I like them. I don’t care for the cutout to overhang the bowls and the other line was too for out. I set it to go just over the round over of the bowls (about 5/16 to the outside) and it looks great. I am sure you guys check the templates/dxf file before you cut it out but I thought I would give you a heads up. The sink I just did is the SS55-3318 double bowl.

KeymasterI always do a test before I use it the first time. I just just the cardboard that comes with the material.

MemberThanks Shane. If I get the DXF file straight from the manufacturer, I just confirm the dimensions between the file, sink, and template using a tape measure. If they give two options, and the customer or contractor hasn’t specified which one to use, I go with the line that will leave a stainless reveal. I do see some sinks where the cutout is only around 3/8″ from the flange, but with the clips, that provides plenty of surface area for the silicone. The further away the cutout is from the bowl also makes slight variations in manufacturing less noticable. This becomes more important if you are doing multiple cutouts with the same sink model.
Have a nice evening,

MemberSeth,
I do the same thing as far as checking with a tape prior to cutting a sample piece. I will cut a sample using 1/8” hardboard so I can check it against the sink before we cut the countertop material. On multiples we use the same sample piece to insure the other sinks are the same.

MemberI need the cutout for the 3318 Lovello
If anyone got the modified version from Shane, that would be even better. I emailed Shane this morning, but he hasn’t gotten back to me yet.
Thanks,

MemberSorry I have been a stranger lately, I have been soooo busy…..and loving it. We have both our laminate shop and solid surface shop staying real busy. It seams like I am always on the road doing templates and measures and when I get home it’s all about yard work. I do have to admit though…after a while I start missing you guys.
