Kind of puts the Surfaces show in perspective, for it’s first year.

MemberIts the fabricators… when business is great, they don’t go cause they are too busy.. When its slow, they don’t go cause they can’t afford it. Perhaps its that the fabricators don’t feel its necessary or worthwhile to go? Are the mfg and show management providing a good enough reason to attend? Perhaps its that the majority of the fabricators are good at fabricating but not that good at runing a business? Perhaps its cause anyone can get into our industry with little capital and little experience, I don’t know, but the fabricators don’t attend, so the mfg don’t either. Chicken and egg thingy.

James Carville was an accountant?
Loved the clockmaker bit.

MemberThe only two years the show has had bad attendance where the last two years. Hasn’t the last two years been rough on most fabricators?
But Fabrciators do have to share some of the blame. We have to decided if we want a show or not.

MemberGood observation, Jon.
We need to decide this ourselves. Merging it with KBIS will kill it for sure. It might not be worthy of continuing.
How about Gordon’s suggestion of combining it with, say, Surfaces, or some other?

MemberYou know, I’m not really happy about the incredible shrinking show either, but it does seem to be losing steam. It seemms to me that a combined surfaces show is the most reasonable, logical answer. Plus, it puts SS head-to-head with all other surfacing. That’s when we’ll know how competitive the SS product really still is, like it or not.
Like Mom used to say, “Put up, or shut up!”
