MemberI just received a solid surface countertop lead from a person because of the following reason.
This person was initially going to go with granite countertops for their kitchen. A friend of theirs said “don’t do it”. They just had granite put in their kitchen and it was supposedly sealed, with what I don’t know. Their friend said that a post it note was left on the granite countertop and it got wet. It was a color post it note and the ink stained the granite top.
Because of this I now have a solid surface job, works for me

MemberDear World of Granite, the countertop industry would be yours if not for the hacks that don’t seal granite and the ignorant home owners who don’t ask.
Un-friggin-believable !

KeymasterThose flourecent post it notes look like they have a ton of ink in them. Were they able to get it out or is there to stay?

MemberAndy, after I do the top I’ll ask. My reaction was not to ask questions, but to simply shake my head.

MemberThe guys over at the NSRA site say ink will bleed in even if sealed. It supposedly is one of the hardest stains to get out.
I have never heard of the adhesive in post it notes etching, but some stones will etch with masking tape, ran across it several times this year on stonesites and consumer complaint boards.

MemberHave you joined the NSRA or are you going to use them like other sites to spread negative propaganda about mother natures finest product – natural stone?
Happy New Year!

I wish the hell the sheetrock people or the wood industry would do something about this annoying problem.

MemberKevin, mother natures finest product was a woman. Man decided to use granite for a countertop, Fred and Wilma got one, so Barney and Betty had to follow

MemberKevin,
Explain how it is that you are allowed to post about granite issues, yet you get your panties in a wad when others do the same? If the info comes from stone sites, how can it be considered “negitave propaganda”?
Plenty of solid surface issues are spoken about here on Fabnet yet no one gets upset, why should we? Being honest and forthright means never having to worry about what you said in the past. Simple ethics.
Wood and sheetrock fabricators aren’t stupid enough to over sell their material, only stone and quartz brands have a tendency to do so.
Ethics seems to be the big divide between the granite guys and the multi material shops, selling the material honestly, warts and all. You guys can blame imports and low price hacks all you want, what is really doing you in is the lack of integrity in your marketing.

MemberKevin, the point Al makes about ethics as it relates to the stone industry is valid. There are to many buy here pay here dudes in the stone industry ant they’re not doing the industry any good.
