Any body familiar with international pet travel? We purchased a dog from Nova Scotia. . We wanted to fly it here but the airlines are telling us it’s to cold. Any suggestions?

    Jon:

I purchased my American Shorthair Silver Tabby from a breeder in Pennsylvania and we drove down from Michigan to pick him up. Kowboy’s breeder was a retired schoolteacher who was an expert and collector of American slave memoreibillia. It’s pretty freaky looking in a lady’s locked glass cabinet and seeing a pair of rusty shackles that held a human a couple hundred years ago.

We drove to Vermont to pick up Charlie, our American Shorthair Brown Tabby, and stayed with some friends we hadn’t seen in a long time. Charlie took first place as a kitten in the only show he’s ever been in. They are both spectacular cats. I’d like to get another British Blue Shorthair, but we’ve got three with the mutt now and the wife says that’s it.

So drive and go get him! You’ll have a great time and meet some interesting people.

Nobody ever laid on their deathbed and said, “Gee, if I’d only spent more time at work…”

    Joe

    P.S.

These breeders ship animals all over the world without the least bit of harm. I had to agree to never let my cats outside, that’s how protective they are.

    Jon,

What kind of dog and from what breeder? The airlines transport dogs in the cargo hold which can get very cold this time of year. We are having temperatures of minus 20 on some days and many nights. How old is the dog and when are you looking to transport. We have some friends who are breeders and we could check if any of them are going your way in the next little while.

Barb and I are planning to come and see you and Tom in April to have a look at your CNC setups. If you can wait that long we could bring the dog with us.

Hello Paul. Thanks first of all for your offer. That was mighty nice of you to offer. We did get a flight for this week. I was able to hire a private plane to fly the dog almost to my doorstep. For not much more if I paid the big airlines. I don’t have to miss the work and the dog will have less stress.

Joe good advice. I think this summer where going up for another one. We’ll make it a family vacation and dog pick-up all in one.

Oh Paul the pup is twelve weeks old. I believe she’s in a town called Bridgewater http://www.wildbrookkennels.com/

Dave the thought did come up. But I don’t think my 10 year old daughter would ever speak to me again.

One must always caters to our 10 yr old daughters. Sounds like a real cool dog. I’m sure she’ll just love him.

    Jon,

Labs are great dogs, we had one for 15 years. He died 2 years ago this coming May. We now have a Golden Reteiver called Charlie that is 18 months old. We will probably bring him along when we visit Tom and you this Spring.

If you decide to get another this summer and come to get him you will have to visit with us. Bridgewater is about 90 miles from us. We have a Kitchen cabinet shop retailing tops for us in the Bridgewater Mall. It’s a lovely little town with lots of touristy places nearby.

    Jon,

You asked the right guy. You need to fly up there with some supplies (dark glasses, a leash, and a cane).

Bring the pup back as a seeing eye dog! Works everytime.Ive even gotten wolves into country like this. You will need vaccination records. (for the dog, not you).

Although it only works for cannines. Remind me to tell you the horror story about me and my seeing eye Komodo Dragon being kicked off the plane in Indonesia after said dragon ingested a stewardess.

As for cats..no need for planes…Im working on something now called …the Cat-a -pult!

BTW, cute pup! Im a dog lover!

How come Jon doesn’t have to be vaccinated?!!

Just because his nose is cold doesn’t mean he’s healthy, you know….
