We participated in Park Industries’ Digital Stoneworking Expo last week – it was really fun and informative, too.

Here are the notes I took

I liked how Austin Countertops opened a stone shop in addition to their solid surface, cultured marble, laminate… and really took production to the next level.

Interesting information. I would be interested in know the cost per square foot now with the new machinery.

I just got back from another Park Digital Stoneworking Expo – I included a bit more info from the meeting. There’s some detail about production time and labor cost: http://www.moraware.com/2012/06/13/digital-stoneworking-expo-june-2012/

There were also a few slides from Rob @ Park that broke down the production cost. A lot of it depends on your production volume. If you consider the fully-loaded cost of labor + machine payments, they’ve found that it’s like this for a shop that’s got a digital workflow:

sq. ft. per week | $/sq.ft.
    ——————————–
    375 sq. ft. | $6.72
    750 sq. ft. | $5.09
    1000 sq. ft. | $4.22
    1250 sq. ft. | $4.04

    Hope that’s interesting, too!
