    Norm,

I was screwing with countertop colors for a design and clicked the Formica link (Laminate – Formica – then saw Surell and Fountainhead). I checked out “solid surface” and saw Fountainhead, Gibraltar, and Wilsonart (which were all Gibraltar colors).

Norm – something for you to check out. Kinda like a walk in the past.

Matt – Something to bring to someone’s attention somewhere?

Also any Wilsonart guys. And how about the missing companies?

I think the quality of rendering on such a level as countertops really isn’t that great, but it’s getting there and it might be nice to get on board. Make the color interperetation attractive in that medium, choose colors that will help brighten the design, and the color will get used. That’s gotta be worth something.

Something else: Just fyi, DuPont Corian has it’s own section. Only one.

Tom, you had given me a link before to a site that has alot of info on 20/20. One of the things that was said is that you can add your own colors and textures to the program, and use them rather than the ones 20/20 provide. Evidently you can import photos from other venues or even take your own digital photos and import them into the program. This would improve the quality of the rendering dramatically, I just haven’t had to time to tinker with it.

I think you’re right, but the problem (unless they figured out how to fix it) is scale.

Anyway they’re leaving money on the table.

For those of you that haven’t used 20-20, this is what the rendering looks like, the graphics could be alot better especially at 4K for the program.

    Norm,

The 20/20 that our girls use they can render drawings like this. These are fast and simple ones.

Mory, for one thing I don’t believe it. But if that is for real and not a photograph, how do they do it?

    Mory,

There is no way that is computer generated. There are pictures on the back of the range.

    Norm,

If you’re gonna sell retail, unless it’s like I do, you are gonna have to learn this. Sorry, it sucks, but it will help seal the deal.

You posted what is sort of a default decoration.

Mory’s gals have made design selections that give them control over elements such as ceilings (you don’t have one, except for default parameters) including the color, texture, light positioning, light wattage, light angle and head, and that’s just the friggin’ lights. ASnd that’s just the friggin’ ceiling.

One thing you could screw with is the auto-decorate. I started toying with it, and it may help me learn how to be like Mory’s gals. I doubt it, but a man has to have a dream.

    Tom

That really is a nice rendering, Mory.

    Getting closer Norm.

    Mory,

Is that really what is generated by the program? Looks real good. Where did those little pictures go?

Thanks Andy, it’s all about adjusting the lighting, and there alot of adjustments you can make, had I played with that a bit more it would have looked better.

Yes, I am aware of this. We are implementing a 20 20 program in the very near future. I have already been involved in some meetings and I am just waiting for some dates of when we will be ready. We are plainning to do this for laminate, veneer, metals, e-stone. We have over 450 patterns to get scanned and ready for 20 20.

Norm, I don’t know about grading, but it is better than I can do.

    As of now, anyway.

Play around with the levels of texture. Remember, this will take much more memory from your computer, so give it a fair amount of time to load up.

    Matt,

    Not an easy task.

Do you know if they have solved the “scale” problem. The patterns used to be whatever size it was scanned in as. Whether you zoomed in tight, or pulled out full thay all seemed to have the same actual size, as opposed to relative size.

Again, you might want to note that brand C has it’s own little section.
