Quite a few months ago, we received a call and they wanted to know if we wanted to be involved in a total home makeover. We declined and then had second thoughts, but it was too late. Actually, we are glad we did not get involved. A granite shop we do business with was contacted by them and they said they would do it. Now, this is how it is–The kitchen will take three slabs. They can’t template it until after the cabinets are set, so that afternoon when the cabinets are set they will need to template and work late hours to get it installed by the next day. If you don’t like the schedule, tough. You signed a contract and you are at their mercy. Here is the real kicker. The company is not allowed to were any of their company shirts and if the trucks are going to be seen on TV will have a magnetic sticker over the logos. If the logos are too large or they don’t feel the trucks are in good enough condition you must rent a truck and they will put their stickers on it. You get no national recognition what so ever and any local coverage has to be approved by them. Next time they ask me, I’ll be sure to be the first to volunteer. Ha! Ha! Sometimes things just work out for the better. Oh one thing I forgot to mention, Its all done for free or you could call it a donation.

We actually did a job for the FOX makeover show. They gave us recognition on their website, but not until we had to call them to change it. It was a very hectic situation for us. You are trying to do you regular work, all the while you are waiting for the go agead to install a countertop that is made per plans (basically won’t fit).

We did get a few jobs from it so I guess it wasn’t all bad. I wouldn’t suggest doing it though. I don’t think it is all that it is hyped up to be.

    Stay local.
We suplied a top for a local cooking show and our name was on the “Donated by” in the credits for the life of the show.
