MemberJust met with the area rep for Meganite and we are considering adding them to our line up. Of course the rep gave me a list of poeple I could call for references. I am sure they will all give great reviews, since the company is steering me to them. I know I would never give out a number for a customer that was unhappy with my service. Not that, that ever happens (right). So, I thought I would ask here to see if any of you have had expereince with Meganite good or bad.

MemberMeganite has a 2 cm product that is 26 1/2″ x 120″ , perfect for vanities, it’s called Maxstone and is a poly blend.

MemberNorm,
Their 1/2″ material is acrylic, right?
The few experiernces we’ve had have all been positive. I am a little more concerned about the sinks. From what i understand they are acrylic as well. If so, I would take a chance. The warranty is a question for me. If this is a Chinese product, are they going to be around for the full ten years?

MemberYes Tom their 1/2″ is acrylic. The jobs we did in their material were nice, good material. However, I am not a fan of their sinks, when we used them they were a blend and were very heavy. They added a lot of weight to the top, but other than that nice stuff, plus dealing with the distributor down here was pleasant as well.

MemberThanks, John.
Up till now all of my meganite jobs were commercial, or clean with no sinks. I am pricing one out with sinks and full wall sheets. I’m a bit nervous about the sinks due to an experience with a different “Blended” material.
I thought they were acrylic sinks in the Meganite line-up. Could that be only for vanities? Charlie- if you’re lurking out there – give me a call or a post on this, please?

MemberWe have been dealing with Meganite for a while now and I like there material it turns out great but we will not use there sinks if we don’t have to. Our experiences have not been good with the sinks.

Wags….we are located in about an hour and a half north of Tampa on the west coast of FL. As I understand it, the distribution will be direct from Meganite. I think he said out of Orlando or Atlanta.

Hey Norm…ave you used the 2cm product? Seems like a good fit for vanities, but very limited in colors from what I can see

MemberYour distributor would be the same as for Norm.. Maxstone I find all the comments about poly sinks interesting…how many use HiMacs sinks? They are poly, (If you didn’t know that). Also Meganite has changed their bowls, they are much lighter and are a poly Acrylic blend. It may take a little time for them to be showing up as this is a fairly recent change. 2cm is available in all the colors, but most Dist will only carry a few colors in that thickness. If you have quantites you its a different ball game.

MemberWags,
Hi-Macs swore to me up and down that they would stand behind their sinks in all circumstances that thermo cycle shock was evidenced. That is the only reason I still even consider them. W/A, after treating me and a customer quite shabbily, will never see a sink sold through my business, unless it is directly requested on a spec. Even then I will have a talk with the designer before we proceed.
That, and some Avonite sinks I checked out on warranty issues (tops by others) put me off poly sinks for good, perhaps unfairly so.

MemberReal World, your rep is Brandon Kirk in Orlando, they are a distributor and stock quite a bit of material there, the plant is in Tennessee I believe. I am using the 2cm product for a hotel, they are only using two different colors so there is not a problem.

KeymasterReal World Man,
Could you please post your name with your post? Thanks

MemberFor the record HiMacs sinks come from the same place Avonite use to get their sinks from, Avonite now uses Shock sinks from Germany. And I would hope every mfg would stand behind their products, especially thermal shock on sinks.
