I need a pair of vanity sinks in Avonite Bone. Based on you guys experience what is the most efficient way to go about buying these? Also is anyone using the Quickcove system? This will be my first coved splash and this looks like an option that doesn’t require a new router.

    Thanks, Chris

    Chris,

Call 1 800 4 AVONITE they will tell you where you can get your sinks.

You could do you cove the way I do it and all you need is a router table, 3/8” core box bit, a 7/8” wide rabbet bit, and a few clamps. Take a look at my web sit under uses and look at the photos on coving.

We are selling Avonite the question came up yesterday and the only color samples I had from the Avonite cert class for sinks were 3 shades of white. I am dialing my rep now.

OK My rep said that when they went to Schock they dropped the bone and went to the color chain I have. Does this fit with what you guys have seen? If so anybody got two old bone vanity sinks?

If you can use sinks from another manufacturer you could order two Corian sinks in bone.

    Chris,

Make your life easier and just order two Bone sinks from Staron, Corian or HI-MACS, or anybody else. You will never have a warranty issue with a bath top so I think you will be fine.

I did see the other Mfrs have these in bone, is there a protocol for buying from suppliers whose line you don’t carrry. Also is it safe to assume that the Bone siink from Corian will match the Bone Top from Avonite? The sample chips are dead on but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the help with the rookie questions.

    Shane,

Didi you get my email about the survey? ?If not could you send a copy to sanitychaser at aol dot com.

    Thanks

    Chris,

The survey is on the way, TFI here in Chico will gladly ship you a couple of their
bowls in Corian Bone, if you need contact info or any help let me know. If the
bowls don’t match (and they probably wont) just use a large chamfer detail on
the bowl and it should blend just fine.

    Chris,

I thought you just needed two Bone bowls. I didn’t know they had to math a Bone counter. Even if you did get them from the same supplier they wouldn’t match exact.

I would suggest now that you look into getting the bowls from TFI like Shane said. You will probably have better luck.

One other note, you look too young to be doing solid surface.

    Andy,

He is my newest employee as we are a very small, family business. He is very good inside of tight spots to help with cleanup, like inside the table saw, or lubing heavy and large and very dangerous equipment as well as more mundane tasks like crawling under a house to locate plumbing etc.. ( he’s very good at crawling)

    Andy/Shane,

I talked with TFI today and they will not ship a Corian bowl since I am not certified by Dupont. I did have an interesting conversation about possibly pursuing that , But it ain’t happening tonite. Soooo, I am in a tight for two Bone vanity sinks. Anybody have a pair laying around the shop?

As you noted the Schock sinks are what Avonite only sells and the color choices are White, Ivory, and Creme only. Karran makes a bisque color in their sinks that you may want to check and see if that comes close. They can be purchased direct if you don’t have a local distributor. You can get more information at http://www.karranproducts.com

    Good luck with your search.

    Chris,

The sinks are on their way. The will be shipped out on Monday though because the person I had to talk to wasn’t in until after the UPS man arrived.
