Hello Joe. I guess my comment comes from wanting to have a association that can help our trade. Tom it would seem to me was looking at the post from different angles trying to weigh all options. It helped me to put some of my own thoughts into a clearer pattern. It had nothing personal to do with your post.

I know ISSFA has made some mistakes and still has some flaws. But it still has value. My only goal is to put Solid Surface back on the map. I think it was KC or Dave would said some where else its time to move forward. That’s what I plan on doing.

Thanks Tom. Recently I was asked to serve on the BOD. I respectfully declined. I feel I can help ISSFA and our industry more by just doing what I have been doing. Maybe when the Kids are older I’ll re-think the issue.

I also want to thank Andy he has gone out of his way to help me understand many of the issues we face.

Ummm…yeah, I think so, Steve. I’m pretty sure that those horses left the barn years ago. That was my first truly sad moment as a member.

Keep in mind that is only my opinion. I think that old battle has been met, fought, and finished. ISSFA had a lot to do with that outcome, which I think was as good as we were ever going to get.

Jon has his eye on the new battle. The one to bring solid surface back in as a preferred material of choice to the design set. As goes the designers, so goes the media, so goes the public.

For myself and, I think Joe, we seem more concerned with fixing the problem of the Association itself. If it is going to help us with the designer quest, it needs to be sleek, smart, and some other cool “s” word that I can’t think of right now. I don’t think it will ever again be the place where we find allies in the battle with manufacturers, but it could easily be the place where we illuminate the minds of the design community.

It needs to get a tune-up. Real bad.

Jon,
While Joe can certainly speak for himself (gee, ya think?), I would put him in the pro-ISSFA category with regards to what it could be (again). He brings a perspective that I or you cannot have. I hope to understand as much of that as I can.

I will respect your wishes to not be on the board, but I am saddened by it. Can you think of anyone else who has the time and understands how hard it will be to turn this around? How about Grant? I always valued his opinions and think he has the ability to not succumb to the easier way of go along/get along. That path leads to the dark side.

I believe it was Dave, and I don’t think he was talking about saving ISSFA, I think he was promoting the idea of what comes next. Perhaps with a forum such as this one. If so, I agree with him, but I need to give ISSFA a chance. Dave, I hope I have you right on that. My apologies if I don’t.
