MemberTo All.
This is very cool that we could actually exchange data, information and knowledge altogether. It’s my great pleasure to introduce myself in the network.
I recently heard that 3mm SSV is coming back on the market and just wondered if I should also consider it. I heard the product has improved and no more having the delamination problem.
What do you guys think?? Would you consider it for your customers?? Why not??
I talked to some of my friends and found out that they were still very repellent by the Wilsonart.
Thank you for your time~! Have a great day~!!
Sincerely,
Michael Lee

MemberHello Michael and welcome,
The answer to your question would depend on how you plan on using it and what you are using it for. If you are going to bond it to a wood substrate and use it for countertops I think you should listen to your friends, however I do feel there is an application for that product. So what do you want to do with it?

MemberHello, Michael,
I think that it never really left the market. The manufacturer, Aristech, simply renamed it and started mrketting it on their own. We actually had good luck with it, but I would bet that it is not worth selling once the labor and other material costs are added in. Much cheaper (in price) solid surface has come on the market now.Tom Mather

KeymasterBe careful. Wilsonart told us the same thing and you know what happened. I think it would take a lot of convincing for us to consider it. Sometimes I think that regular 1/2″ material would be the same cost in certain instances.
Is 3mm equal to 1/8″? I would love to show some on the Fabricator Network if you have some pictures and some infor on the material.

0.625 – 5/8″, and all that?

MemberAristect now calls the pre formed counters Alura sp? To say sales have been less than spectacular would be an understatement. WilsonArt still sells it in Europe, but a 27 million dollar lawsuite killed it in the US. I believe the problem was more with over promising. Wilsonart Sold it as a replacement for standard SS. It has its place, but it now comes with a one year warranty. And it is not sold as a replacement for SS but as an ugrade from laminate. I sold some, it has a place.. but should be used in situations it will be sucessful. In my opinion not in kitchens, especially with cooktops, corner sinks etc.

KeymasterI like that way of thinking Wags. Don’t over sell the product and you will have much better results with customer satisfaction.

I think I have one that I can track down. If I find it I will upload in the document section.
