MemberThis past weekend I had the great pleasure to participate in a motorcycle ride. This ride was to support our troops. It started with a program, which was broadcast live around the world to our troops on the Pentagon Cable Channel . It also included a live link up with 56 Arizona Troops and Gen Caldwell in Iraq. A number of families got to see and speak with their loved ones, which was very emotional for all of us. Music, including a song written and performed by a young lady that lost her brother in Iraq, and slides, interviews etc were all wonderful. After the “program” we prepared for our 60 mile ride. What happned i was not prepared for. As we pulled out of the church the streets were lined with people, young and old, many waving flags, giving thumbs up or just waving. Our procession, which included about 2,000 bikes and was about 4 to 5 miles long, was all decked out with flags. The Arizona State Police and the local cities did an outstanding job of controling traffic. As we entered the expressway they had shut the road down. This irratated some untill they found out what it was for, then they got out of their vehicles and waved etc. Very inspiring. We rode to PIR (Phoenix International Raceway) where we were allowed to take a lap on the track, very cool.. We then headed past Luke Airforce Base (only F-16 fighter pilot training base in the world) and onto the Cardinals Football Stadium for the rest of the program, food and beverages. To be surrounded by all those God Loving Patriotic Americans was terriffic.
I hope if any of you get an opportunity to participate in something like this, please DO IT. You will get much more from it than you ever could give. if you want to see some of the TV coverage and pictures as they are posted here is the link.
