MemberJust around Christmas we installed a Garmin C530 GPS Mapping system and it is awsome. It saves us tons of time by taking shortcuts that we never considered and of course no more maps or directions to print 🙂 Check it out. We loved it so much that we ordered 3 more. They are less then $500.00 and you can have it up and running in less then 10 minutes.

KeymasterWhat is the link. Less than $500 is a good deal. The sales manager uses one for field measuring but we don’t have one for the install trucks. Maybe it is time to pick up another one.

MemberWe’ve been using GPS for almost 3 years now. It helps keep the guys focused on driving rather than looking at a map and also helps you along the great many detours that Chicago construction can offer. The thing is, since they’re not cheap units, the guys know they are financially responsible for them. That means not leaving them sit on the dashboard when they exit the vehicle.

MemberI got one on sale for $250.00 and used it on the drive back from portland. Invaluable, gas stations, motels, hospitals, you name it and it is on it. Something like 2 million points of interest already loaded and you can donwload more. The time and distance to cities made it easy to plan the stops for the night. I used it to check up on our billboards as well, much better than trying to read a map while driving in traffic. The voice prompts are a must have feature.
These things will make you money.

MemberBut, most importantly. does it show strip clubs? With out that feature, FedSawChuck will not do deliveries!

MemberBrad and Al,Can you let us know what brand and model you have and whether or not you would buy that one again, or something different?
I tried to start a thread about this a couple months ago, this is good. I am going to buy at least one, so any review would be very helpful.
Thanks,

MemberNextar GPS, Q3 model. Acadamy sports, sale price $250.00. I did some research online before I bought one. The nicer ones are probally a good buy, but the cheaper ones do all that I needed to do, plus cheaper to replace when the help leaves the truck unlocked.

MemberMatt,
About two years ago we bought Magellan’s. They were pretty pricy. We still have them and they still work. I recently replaced my cell phone with a Treo Palm. I bought the TomTom GPS software and it works great for me. It even works on my motorcycle. It talks to me and moves just like the big expensive onees. Plus, I always have my cell phone, so I can never forget it. Once I start getting older and I can’t find my way home, I can program it to take me home.

MemberWe are using an older model – Garmin Street Pilot 2620. They are durable and have worked very well. I like what Mory is doing with the cell phone technology. If my car didn’t have it integrated, and we weren’t already invested in the Garmin, I’d be doing the same thing. Of course, I don’t have it on my Harley, so…maybe that’s an excuse to buy another gadget!

KeymasterWe have the Magellan in the sales van. Makes it easy to go from appointment to appointment. The thing is a bit big, but I like it. The new models are much smaller. Look for one that has the battery, so you don’t have to have the cord going from the cigarette lighter to the GPS.
