KeymasterThe fine folks at Cygnus are having a party in Florida for all of us countertop people. The Fabricator Network has a booth and we will all be there.
I have added a “Tab” to the site that has all the information called Cygnus SFDExpo. Be sure to click on the Tab, because we have a special Priority Code the will get you into the Exhibit Hall for free.
Cygnus does a great job supporting our industry with the magazine and the Expo. Return the support and be there for their first Florida Expo.

MemberHow much does it usually cost to get in?

KeymasterIt is usually $35 until January 15 and then it’s $45. Not a huge savings but the people at Cygnus wanted to make sure all of us at the Fabricator Network had the best deal possible.

MemberHas anyone looked at the exhibitor list for the Expo? Interesting many major mfg are not listed and even Hi Macs has only a very small booth. Anyone else feel perhaps this show needs to be merged with another show that draws more?

MemberHello Wags. How would merging with another show encourage hi-macs to have a bigger booth? Not that I disagree with your thoughts .Just trying to understand. As a thought the first show had hardly any displays. Its impact was the fabricators getting together and exchanging ideas.
You know what be cool? On the show floor the vendors make a super shop. That we could walk around. We all love shops. Just sitting here drinking coffee trying to be creative.
P.S. Andy I don’t know about you but $45.00 is a big deal to me. Can I come work for you? Seems like you have money to throw around.

YES, I am rich, not because of all my hard work but because on the money tree we grew in the backyard. It is really starting to bloom.

Hello Baumer, glad to see you found the Network. I haven’t entered anything in the design contest. I am more a builder than an idea guy. Give me an idea and I can build it, but tell me to come up with one and I’m done.

MemberO.K. please build me one of those money trees!

MemberA larger show with more broad attendance would allow a mfg to spread the cost to a greater number of customers. Take KBIS, many mfg are already there, with 50 to 60,000 attendees. It costs the same to man a booth for a smaller show as the larger ones. If you had to choose between 3000 attendees or 60,000, which would you rather display at?

KeymasterWags,
I agree and disagree. Lets take this site for example. Integra was won of the first supporters of this site. This site gets about 200 – 250 visits a day. You can look at it two ways. Either say that is nothing or you can look at it as these 250 people work in an industry that wants my product. If I could get 250 potential customers in my doors everyday, I would love it.
My point is that the Solid Surface Expo is supposed to be a small, personal show where is can go to each booth and maybe build a small relationship that can then grow into a real working partnership with a vendor. If there are too many booths, I just end up going by them real quick and not talking to anyone.

MemberWags,
You could say its like “If you stand for everything, you’ll stand for nothing”.I tried to do at the KBIS what I was used to doing at the Solid Surface show, bvut it was clear early on that that was not going to work. Too many places to stop.

MemberTry the IWF show every other year in Atlanta. 1 million sq. ft. of utter back ache and bad chicken sanwiches. Never again and that was my 10th show attending.

MemberI agree Tom,
I went to the IWF show in Atlanta held at the World Congress Center. It is like a small city, it is so huge. I spent 2 full days there and never saw it all. I came back and realized I tried to see so much, I never got to spend the time to look at the products I went there to see. One thing I do like about that show, you have all the manufacturers using their equipment at full production. Lots of noise, sawdust flying, it is like being in a huge shop.
