Yesterday we received our new R0150 and, if you guys don’t know, we buy all of our Festool through Monument Tools. At the end of the day, here are the results. The guys in the shop love this sander. I asked them to tell me what they think. They like the way the pad comes off. It has a type of twist lock mechanism on it. Much easier to clean. More balanced than the old sanders. It even comes with a guard, so out in the field the guys can’t get up against wood or tile, if they choose to put it on. It is alot easier to switch from orbital to random. All in all, this is a much better sander. Now that is their opinion. I will be using it sometime this week. I’ll give you my honest opinion, just in case the guys in the shop are not telling the truth. Maybe they just like the smell of new tools.

Mory, I’m a little confused here. You received 1 Festool sander? Or did every fabricator in the shop receive one? Do you do all of your production work with a 5″ or 6″ sander or do you use a larger one to knock out the job quicker? Festool only in the shop…only in the field…or both?

    Dave,

I didn’t know I stuttered in my post. I said we received the new Festool sander today. I didn’t elaborate on anything else. The guys in the shop seem to like the new design on the sander. Note– The guys like “THE SANDER” and “I will be using IT sometime this week”. All singular.

Ahhh Mory, I asked a couple of questions. As simple as that. Is the sarcasm because of a stressfull day…had a few myself, or….never mind!

Mory, I understand. I just realized that you were used to using Ryobi sanders for fabrication and now it’s like Christmas all over again. Big Hug

    Dave,

We don’t use Ryobi’s. We use Dewalt palm sanders. Just kidding!. We actually have 10-6inch Festool sanders. We also have 4 Gem sanders and 2 Surcare sanders. Also 5 air sanders, not including the two we jsut got from you. The guys in the field only use the 6-inch Festool sanders. We only purchased one of the new sanders. We wanted to try it out. I have no intentions of replacing all of our other sanders with the new style. Not unless Festool has a trade-in program.

New customer calls one day to see if we could solve his fininshing problem on SS. Scheduled a time to go over and when I got there it took about 30 seconds to figure it out. One should not attempt to achieve any type of finish on anything with $15.00 Harbor Freight sanders made in Kwangtung provence!
