We noticed this really strange thing happing on one of our tops in the shop yesterday.
It was a large conference table 54×157 Corian Anthracite Semi-gloss. After we sanded the tops we noticed four lines of dust .Each line was over a sawhorse location. No matter how many times you wipe away the dust . The dust pattern would develop over the sawhorses again.
What do you think is causing this? The saw horse was not metal so I think it rules out a static charge.
Jon, according to FEDSAWWES, no matter if the sawhorse is metal or wood, it’s still a static charge. He says he’s seen it happen many times.
As he’s on the road right now in south Florida, I’m sure he’ll way in further on this tonite.
Jon,
It is from the electrons that surround all solid objects
they have a negative charge on them and they are collecting dust with a
positive charge. This principal is what
makes an electronic stud finder work, because of the vertical surface on the
sawhorse the charge is more concentrated with the aligning of the electrons
causing the dust pattern to show up.
