MemberDani, I just watched a demonstration of polishing Avonite K3 according to their fab manual. They used the big wool pads with the two different rouge’s and them finesse it. It was a huge mess, just loading the pads with the rouge, I can’t even imagine doing that in someone’s house (maintenance contract).
I am curious as to why Avonite has not embraced your polishing system, I have used it on K3’s and it is fast and clean. I also know you fab alot of Avonite, what’s the story??

MemberNorm,
I will get back to you later, no time now. I have a big order going to my distributor in Ireland that must ship today, because the boat is leaving on Wed.

Dani,
Could you do me a faveor? When you copy and paste out of a “word” program, can you paste it into the “Basic Text Box”. That way you won’t get the formating code that you see before your post. The Basic Text Box is accessed by just clicking on the button toward the top of the text editor when you are replying to a post.
Thanks

Let me help Dan-o out a little.
He took his polishing system on the road with Avonite a while back. He was gone a week or so and they visited several shops. Dani gave sanding, finishing and polishing demonstrations to Avonite customers and potential customers.
I would say Avonite’s actions are speaking louder than the label on their polishing system.

Over the years I have traveled several times with Greg Ulibarri from Avonite Tech services doing Avonite training seminars for over a week at a time. It has worked out very well because we teach sanding with the exact same product, the only difference is Greg teaches dry sanding and I teach wet sanding. Although on the last tour I did with Greg, he has added that the 15µ lasts longer and works better if you use it wet. Greg does have my polishing system and has used it in some of his classes, being more user friendly than the dry buff method. You are right any polishing method whether it being Dry or Wet using the rotary wheel is one big mess. That is why I always like to wear Black pants without an apron when I demonstrate my polishing method, it shows how clean the system really is. I think it boils down to Avonite’s system has their name on it and is in their Fab manual, mine does not. Who knows maybe my system will be Avonite’s one day. My system has only been on the market for 7 years, maybe they are waiting for the 10 year to take effect. Watch for my polishing article in the up coming Surface Fabrication magazine it will give you a lot of insights on the mirror finish.

Oh it aint no problem. I just letting you know. I usually just go in and edit out the code, but it is easier if you just add it without.
Thanks
