I just noticed that Dupont is selling tub surround kits to the public. Has anyone priced these, how do they compare with custom fabrication, etc. Click Here

I would be willing to bet that your local distributor doesn’t carry
them, either. The funny thing about DuPont selling products for
the end user (our customers) is that they don’t really have a channel
for fulfilling an order. DuPont doesn’t want to sell to
consumers, because they aren’t equipped to do so. Distributors
are wholesale operations, so they aren’t oriented to the consumer
market either. My guess is that someone at DuPont thought they
would sell more 1/4″ material if the also carried the accessories (like
Swan does), so they came up with a kit. Distributors have been
burned by DuPont twice with wetwall offerings (1/8″ wall panels, and
DuPont Bath Surfaces, which was cultured marble.) I doubt that
distributors are lining up with orders in hand for these kits. I
    could be wrong.

Good lord! Corian has been selling shower surrounds to the public since the 70’s! Not direct, but that’s the case here, isn’t it?

In the past, the distributor held the inventory and got a cut. Aside from the cost of floor space, it was found money.

The most recent incarnation has thrmoformed corner pieces. These look like they still do.

Go to “where to buy” and you’ll find who in your area can sell these. The list is only those fabricators on all their lists, frankly.
