MemberSteve:
The sinks from Chemcore are fantastic as well as the service. I sold some of the Onyx and was stunned to find out when I attempted to order that the color my customer had selected was discontinued! No notice, no nothing. Fortunately, they decided to not discontinue and I got my sheet over eight weeks later. In my telephone conversations, the owner’s daughter hung up on me. Twice. I told the President/Owner of her actions but he didn’t make her call and apologize.
They did refer a customer to me since then though.
I’ve heard from a competitor of theirs that they import their stuff from Pakistan, which is why it’s so cheap and why it takes over eight weeks to get an out-of-stock color.
I had two sheets of Dovae arrive, one 1/2″ and one 7/16″. Of course, I had to seam them together. PIA. The President told me the 7/16″ sheet was to protect the other sheets only and should not have been sold. Maybe he’ll send me a refund for all the extra time his 1/16″ error cost me. Yeah, right, maybe when a monkee flys out of my butt.
Joe
P.S.
Gorden Shell, the EOS rep who posts here occasionally, used to work at H.J. Oldencamp, the Detroit metro Corian distributor. I left messages for Gordon several times over several years back then and never got a returned call either.

MemberJoe,
Before you say that I never called you back, please recall that I met you and bought you lunch @ Mr. B’s in Clarkston, I would say thats a better than a call back. I apologize to Steve that he didn’t get a response, I have tried to respond to everyone that contacts me, please contact me again and I will respond immediatly. My number is 616-293-6170, it is a cell phone so its pretty difficult for me not to get your call, you can also email me @ gordon@eos-surfaces.com. I recieve 20-30 calls and at least 30 emails a day, I apologize again for letteing you slip thru the cracks.
P.S.
The reason that I did not call Joe back, while working for H.J.Oldenkamp, is because he wrote us a 2 page letter bashing myself, Mark Renn, and John Bergmann. I believe the exact wording of the letter was ” I can’t wait until a H.J. Oldenkamp rep tries to walk into my shop so I can kick their ass to the street”. Further into the letter Joe stated that he couldn’t wait to “Put H.J. Oldenkamp out of business” with all the competetive solid surface he is going to do. I think HJO is still doing close to 30 million a year, how’s your numbers Joe.
I recieved a direct order from my boss telling me that we did not want to do business with this type of person, as an employee I was following orders.
After leaving HJO and starting with EOS, I recieved a call from Joe and then met him for a 2 hour lunch.
Joe, If you don’t recall any of the items above, I would be glad to contact HJO and get the copy of the letter you sent, I’m sure the guys here would enjoy reading it.
PPS.
To all the members that have to read this rant: My apologies. It only takes one bad comment from a person of questionable credibility to tarnish your own reputation. In this business reputation is everything, I will defend my reputation to the end.
Thanks.

MemberRodney King where are you
Did not mean to start all that I truly thought maybe they went under it’s a tough market with a lot of players it’s not like the old days when corian was king or dictator there are a bunch of players now and what EOS is doing is different. I have e-mailed Gordon again so the ball is back in his court I’m sure he is a good guy and I will here from him soon. So let me ask who uses EOS what was your experience how was it to work with install etc and the the big tell all did you take it on as one you will carry and sell in the future. Sorry if I poked a some nerves maybe something positive will come from this

MemberSteve, seriously – don’t worry about it. These are big boys. If one commenter makes a claim, and another disputes it, it can start rough but usually ends with understanding. You’ll see it all over here.
Good thins can happen.

MemberSteve,
I have responded to your private email and wanted to make sure you and the rest of the board knew publically that I didn’t feel like you were calling me out. The point of my post/rant was to apologize to you for letting you slip thru the cracks, I take pride in my customer service, and to state the facts regarding Joe’s comment about myself. I also want to state that I have no personal beef with Joe, I have spoke with him at the trade shows and we have a cordial relationship with him.
EOS is stronger than ever, we are planning a new color release at the Orlando show and plan on having a very large presence there. EOS recently opened regional warehouses throughout the country, Evan Kruger of EOS just starred in a segment on E! Entertainment Television highlighting EOS and Solid surface (The footage will be on our web page soon), we have had great write-ups on Bob Villa’s web page, in Kitchen and Bath News, Stone Business, Surfaces Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, and many other trade publications.
Anyone seeking info on EOS, please write me direct @ gordon@eos-surfaces.com or call me M-F, I travel all over the country and into Canada and look forward to meeting all of you in person, I promise I’m not as sensitive in person.

Geesh, gettin’ a little thin-skinned here arent’ we Gordon? Yes, it was a great lunch and I’ll buy next time.
But let’s review the subject at hand. Steve posted that he was unable to get a response from your organization. I recall that this is not the first time this has happened: (Re: EOS on Geeks):

So I’ve documented five people over the course of over a year who have been unable to get responses from you/your organization. I make no judgement, I only post for the informational benifit of fellow readers. I have been critical of Dovae and others for poor customer relations also, I play no favorites. I’m sure everyone appreciated your sincere apology and like I did for John Michaels on Geeks, are willing to give second chances.
As to the letter I wrote to HJ Oldencamp, I would be delighted to reread it here as I foolishly didn’t save a copy. I doubt your quotes are verbatim, but they’re not far off. As long as it’s put in context, it will show the incredible arrogance of the na-na-na-na-na-we’re-the-only-place-you-can-buy-Corian distributors. Ironically, their exclusivity exempts them from the customer service standards the rest of us are busting our balls to meet.
Your old boss is either a liar or the lure of my money was too great and he changed his mind. After he told you not to do business with me, he opened my credit account. For the second time, I might add. I had an account for my shop in Toledo previously. So much for not wanting to do business with my kind. There are streetwalkers with higher standards than these guys.
Gordon, one of the last few times we spoke personallly, we discussed HJ Oldencamp’s attempts to screw you out of some vacation/severence. I hope you won that one and I know that those settlements are usually subject to secrecy, so we’ll understand if you don’t say anything. As I said, streetwalkers have higher standards than these guys.
You have claimed that I have “questional credibility”. Considering that I have documented everything I’ve said, I expect you to do the same or issue me an apology.
While I understand that walking point for fabricators will occasionally rub some, even friends, the wrong way, it’s a price I’m willing to pay.
I owe ya lunch, (Florida?)

MemberI was actually getting ready for the football games when a boxing match broke out.

Gordon, EOS must be doing a lot of things right. Our requests for Velepec router bits for the fabrication of EOS have gone through the roof! So, even though I have not met you…Thanks !

MemberSo, in the great fabrication dictionary Joe’s picture will not appear next to the word “Tact”.
Gordon, don’t take the bait. What’s between you and your former employer is just that.
Oh, and call me sometime about EOS (860) 528-5667.
Dave, do you have a Velepec link to these router bits? I am a lazy s.o.b., after all, and I’d like to start checking these out. One way or another 3CM material is in this iindustry, and there’s a place for it. I don’t hear too much about 1″ Staron. Has anyone tried it yet?
Tom

MemberTom, let me check for the link. If I have not sent you the new Velepec catalog, it will be in the mail Monday morning. There are 3 primary EOS bits. These are the ones flying out the door. Tell’s me fabricators are takin to and liking EOS.
January 21, 2007 at 1:34 pm #13438Gordon Shell
MemberDave,
Please send me your catalog or multiple copies and I will hand them out when I visit my EOS customers, they are always looking for resources. I have to admit that I didn’t even know you guys were carrying the EOS bits, this is great news, Thanks.
If you have a link to the EOS bit page please send it on, I could have it posted on the EOS website for easy access.
My shipping address is;

See, there can be alot of positive things that can come out of our little lovers quarrel, I’m hoping the hatchet is buried. I don’t want to carry this to far, I’ve ready to many posts by Joe about his gun collection. 🙂
January 21, 2007 at 1:36 pm #13439Gordon Shell
MemberDave,
I’ll call you this week to discuss EOS.
Thanks
