I am having a reoccurring problem with AutoCAD and was
hoping you had an idea on how to fix it,Every so often my AutoCAD changes and I need to open and
save files manually. When it is right and I want to open a file I simply go to
file/open and it will bring up the window to select which file to open. But now
when I go to open a file it brings up a manual request on the command line,
likewise when I go to save a file. It only slows me down a little to type in
the file name on the command line but it is still very frustrating. I can’t see
anything that changed in my settings. This would usually happen when I would import a drawing from
somewhere but this time it did it on its own. It will usually last a few days
and then go back to normal. Any ideas? It has me baffled.Shane

MemberShane,
Hi. How are things going? I hope business picks up for you soon. Type in filedia on the command line. Enter 1. This should allow you to save files in a dialogue box. I’ve noticed different sessions of AutoCAD behaving differently. If you still have problems, let me know. We could possibly create a button for a one click change of the value or maybe even change the variable automatically each time AutoCAD is started.
Have a nice evening,

MemberThank you Seth, I will give that a try tomorrow. The thing
that bothers me the most is WHY DOES IT CHANGE!!!!! Sorry… I just get pissed
when stuff like this happens and I don’t know why. You’re a smart guy Seth, it
is nice having you here.Shane

MemberShane,
Thanks for the compliment. I’m glad to be here. We’re all smart here, our specialties just vary. That’s a huge benefit of the BB. If we all put our heads together, there is nothing that can’t be accomplished.
I feel your pain about WHY DOES IT CHANGE!!!!! Router-CIM changes my PICKFIRST system variable and won’t work if I change it back while using Router-CIM. I have a button to change that back after I am done programming. I like to be able to pick objects before entering a command and also being able to double click an object to bring up the Properties dialogue box or a modify box for single line text. If your FILEDIA variable gets changed again, just let me know and we’ll set something up to automatically change it back.
By the way, nice pic. I like the hair/no-hair style. I’ll have to put mine on here also.
Have a good one,
