MemberJust wondering what opinions are out there about Affinity Solid Surface. We carry Dovae and like it pretty good as a lower end solid surface product but are always looking for different product lines to carry. I had been told that Domain and Chemcore were once the same company but split some time ago and they are right down the street from one another. I know what they offer is very similar (colors are almost identical, sinks, faucets).
I also see that Affinity advertises on this website which is a plus.

MemberWe use them both and have no problems with either one. Not much color or product differences though.

MemberFrom what I have heard, they are both the same owners. Dova has recently changed suppliers for their sheet goods.

KeymasterThey are not the same owners but they used to work together. I think they split up and went there seperate ways a few years ago. James for Affinity is very nice and helpful. So is Johnny Crain from Dovea.
I have recently ordered some sinks from Affinity and they are excellent. I am in the process of doing a product review of the cast sinks.

MemberAndy,
Did your sinkd have the little center marks on them? Mine didn’t and it kinda aggravated me.
Also, what is the consensus as far as adhesive colors for sinks? Match the sink or match the deck?
Thanks
Chris

MemberChris:
I’m too cheap to buy another different color of adhesive just to stick a bowl. I’ve never gotten a complaint or had a problem in over a decade so it must not matter.

MemberI always assumed the sink was flater than the sheet was. If you use the same color adhesive as the sink, and you have a “
dent” in the sheet, it will show as an uneven line. If you use the glue to match the sheet, it will still show as a nice even line. Also you already have the sheet adhesive, so why not use that? Just my opinion..

KeymasterWe do use the sink color but it is really a waste of time. Just use the sheet color and make sure there are no chips in the sink.
Like Joe and Wags said, you won’t have a problem.

MemberOnce upon a time…….James and Glenn Synnott were owner/partners in Chemcore-Dovae, and are responsible for the original direct-to-fabricator marketing concept. However, a difference of opinions among the other partners, several years ago, lead to the split. Although Dovae has chosen to change most of their suppliers, Affinity has maintained the relationships with the proven factories. Affinity has also added a complete catalog of fabrication-related items to their sheet and sink lines. The latest addition to their extensive product offering is abrasives, router bits, and the full Festool product line.

MemberThanks again, I had been using sheet color and will continue to do so.
Just checking.
