MemberJust venting. Why can’t we link pics to our posts like other sites? This board seems to have some sort of clitch or something like that. I just wrote a detailed report of a Barbados shop visit that got trashed because I forgot about the pic posting restrictions.
Goin back to de rum punch mon, gonna sit in de sun and forget bout it.

MemberSteve,
Please tell me you didn’t try to link a picture from Photobucket again. Is that why the Barbados thread doesn’t work?

MemberAnd the site slowed down rapidly at that point…or was it me?

KeymasterEveryone is trying to view that thread and there is an error so it times out and causes the system to use all of its resources. I am trying to delete it, but I can’t open it. I will have to contact my host to see if there is a way to go in the database and delete it.
It seems to be running fast now.

That’s what happened. I forgot about this board not being able to link tp photobucket. Can that be fixed? Switch to board software?

MemberMaybe this image problem can be fixed. I just cut and pasted the same writeup into a new thread here and was going to try and remove the image tags at the start and end of the links. The links did not come up, the pictures did instead, just like it was supposed to in the original thread. I deleted it instead of updating it because I did not want to nuke this site again. Can we get real pic posting links to work? Is something turned off?
December 12, 2006 at 11:00 am #11198Andy Graves
KeymasterTrying to get it fixed. I have contacted a webhost company that specializes in DotNetNuke and I will see what they come up with. I have also tried different options on a test site and I continue to have the same problem.
We can’t switch to another board because we want to have the username and password feature. It is alwasys a trade off. One thing works great like the “All Public Forums” section so it is easy to navigate and then I can’t get the “mark all threads” as read and the picture funtion to work properly.
I will continue to work on it. Sorry about that.

MemberLooks like Steve is going to have to donate another tool to give away for taking up so much of our time.

KeymasterJohn,
He is already donating another tool so that threat won’t work.

Just an update. I have contacted a DNN specialist and I am going to have him look into a few issues that are really more annoying than anything. So hopefully the picture posting funtionality, mark all post as read, flash banners, search indexing, skin containers, membership list and a few other things can be taken care of.
This forum does allow for posting pictures, it is just a pain to do it.

No. I am running the DNN Forum because I like the speed of the “Aggregated” forums called “All Public Foums”. Makes it much faster to go through the forum.
I have active forum but decided not to use it. Still could if I need to but I would rather not.
Why what do you know?

MemberDon’t give up the “All Public Forums”. Pleasepleaseplease.I would be like a lost little lamb. Alone in the snow.
And other “L” words.Tom

KeymasterOh No we aren’t. More people use the “All Public Forums” than the picture upload. I would love to have both, but I can’t find another forum that works with DNN that allows for the “All Public Forums”.
But I will continue to work on the picture upload portion.
