Looking for your opinions on 32″ wide sheets. We currently produce 30″ for all stock items and 36″ for most of the items, but not all, like everyone else.

Would you like to see a 32″ sheet standard instead of 30″?

Would you be willing to pay for 32.2 square feet instead of 30 sq ft.?

Would you prefer a another size 32″ x 120″ maybe as the standard?

Call me 513-786-3306 or email if you wish to discuss further.

32″ sounds like it could take care of some problems.
Oh, wait, I think 36 1/2″ sheets would be even better, as they would let us do a double cut on most wall applications.
Oh, wait, 37″ would give us a clean peninsula.
Oh, wait, 38″ or 39″ would allow us a peninsula with eating overhang and give us a rounded inside corner to seam to.
    Oh, wait…

You see the problem? I applaud you guys for considering this, but aside from making 38″ sheets instead of 36″, I can’t see any ideal size. I can’t remember who had it, but one of you guys had 31″ sheets (early Gibraltar? Fountainhead?) and that was dropped after awhile. We fabricators are a demanding, picky bunch.

I think that you might find a consensus with 3cm material, after we have had a chance to try it out awhile. I think there will be more standardized cuts, etc. with a material that is already “built up”.

    YES

    I like 32×135=30sq’

It would make it much easier to get the splash and edge right out of the side of the sheet. CNC usage would be better also. (I think)

I don’t think the sheet needs to be 12′ long. It just makes it awkward to deal with such a long piece. You generally don’t install a 12′ top. Most counters we install are 8 – 10′ long

32″ wide yes it is good. I like the 12′ length we have big kitchens in Nebraska, plus works out better for drop cuts to use on other parts kitchen etc.

I don’t know about you guys, but I enjoy when I sell the Avonite Studio series. The 36″ sheets are just fantastic. You always know where the splash and build-up is coming from. Just from working with the 2cm Silestone, to me 2cm would make more sense in SS. .

Vanities you use 2cm as is

    One buildup instead of 2

Same appearance as the 1 1/2 edge.

Can use 1/2 mdf buildup instead of the 1″ (that we have to sand or machine down)

Sink edging looks better with 2cm vs 3cm especially Stainless Undermount.

I was amazed at how easy 2cm Silestone was to carry in the house compared to 3cm. I would assume it would be the same with solid surface.

    KC,
I really fought switching to 1/2″ material. I was probably the last guy who had the pricing set for 3/4″ and 1/2″. We almost never lost a job, or swung a job over to 1/2″. I used to sell 3/4″ all day long. 36″ would be useful then, I’ll grant you.

Not as much as 36 1/2″, though.

Just thinking to add another size. Lets go for some length like 147″ that way we can actually get 2 6′ vanities from 1 sheet or if it is that funky color a half sheet gets the job done . Just another to add to our wish list
