Hello Patrick funny you started this thread. Today we instituted a new recycling program. We now have a dumpster just for cardboard + paper. The goal is two fold. Help the environment, but we are also saving on trash hauls. It was explained to us cardboard takes up a lot of volume in a dumpster. Hence requiring more calls for pick-ups which are expensive . The goal is to have less pick-ups during the year.
We also try to use every part of a SS sheet. Nesting has helped use 30% less material . Excess material is made into cutting boards which we pass out in the showroom. In fact our Kitchen Showroom advertizes on the home page to come in for your free cutting board.
We also make with extra stock what we call bowties to put behind vanity bowls so plumbers don’t call us complaining the nut to screw down the faucet doesn’t work because of the flange around the bowl. It severs as a flush shim.
We have donated stock to local schools as well. Schools love it.
sink boxes we break down and save for employees to use while moving . The cardboard on the sheets we save and use in packing or shipping of tops.
We now are pricing out a building management device to control our electricity cost.
We also have a rule no object can stick pass the height of the barrel.This controls large objects being throw into the dumpster hence we can put more in the dumpster.
